Oct 28, 2011 - @Ballhogmusic funny... absolutely true. It's funny to see him up there looking like he's crooning during the tunes and you know the mic is muted basically. Then between songs turn em up so he can talk to the audience. Could he play guitar? Yes, quite well. Not everyone can sing, thats ok, and the mic was useful as I said he tended to communicate w the audience most outta the guys... Anyway, funny, thanks fer the laugh!

Nov 1, 2011 - @convict205550 Three of them, but they're like in their late 60's and 70's.

Nov 17, 2011 - To the person who commented "pure southern soul", The Band was all Canadian except Levon. And to the guy who compared The Band the CCR, you are waaaaay off. Dont get me wrong, CCR is one of the best ever and one of my personal favs, but the musical abillity of the band was unmatched at that time, also, Fogerty couldnt hold a candle to Robbie when it comes to song writing and guitar phrasing.

CapeBass508 Says:

Nov 17, 2011 - @CapeBass508 In fact, it's a band of mostly Canadians covering a song written in Detroit.

shortymcshrimp28 Says:

Nov 19, 2011 - @CapeBass508 I agree that The Band was more musically talented overall, but to say that John Fogerty couldn't hold a candle to Robbie Robertson's guitar phrasing is just ridiculous. Robertson's guitar playing was mediocre at best. His song writing is where he shined.

CapeBass508 Says:

Nov 22, 2011 - @shortymcshrimp28 Wow, really? MEDIOCRE? Why don't you look up what other guitar greats (Clapton, BB King, Others) have to say about Robbie.

Trademark691 Says:

Nov 22, 2011 - @CapeBass508 You should hear what they say about John Fogerty...

shortymcshrimp28 Says:

Nov 22, 2011 - @CapeBass508 I'm sorry if I offended you in some way....but Robbie Robertson never released anything like this. /watch?v=4dI7dfBFbNY

CapeBass508 Says:

Nov 29, 2011 - @shortymcshrimp28 No offense taken here, bud. If that was a web link you were trying to post, you failed.

CapeBass508 Says:

Nov 29, 2011 - Oh, and how would a "mediocre" guitar player make it to 59 on the Rolling Stone all time list (13 ahead of Fogerty)?

shortymcshrimp28 Says:

Nov 29, 2011 - @CapeBass508 It's not a link. You have to copy and paste it into the address bar.

shortymcshrimp28 Says:

Nov 29, 2011 - @CapeBass508 Rolling Stone also put Robertson ahead of Dickie Betts (which is a travesty), Bruce Springsteen ahead of Alex Lifeson, James Hetfield ahead of Dimebag Darrell, the guy from U2 ahead of Muddy Waters, and Johnny Ramone (the king of down strumming power chords) ahead of ALL of them. Needless to say, I don't value their opinion much on ranking guitarists. Robbie himself even said that he doesn't do anything difficult. In this video he's just going back and forth between G and C.

CapeBass508 Says:

Dec 1, 2011 - I don't think you are following what I am talking about. I said that Robbie has better "phrasing" than John. That means the WAY he plays notes and chords and the WAY he writes the music to go with a song. I am not talking about blues chops or how many notes he can hit in a solo. Robbie writes his guitar parts so that the guitar sings the song. I made my comment on the Rolling Stone list because I thought it a bit of an over reaction to say Robbie is mediocre at best.

Dec 22, 2011 - this sounds ike rock of ages. anyone else think so?

fugazzi68 Says:

Jan 5, 2012 - I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iangcunningham Says:

Jan 6, 2012 - @tdawg1294 this is from the Rock of Ages concert New Years eve 1971/72. Would have been an awesome show. First live performance for the horn section featuring Howard Johnson.

123lucylsd Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - 12 people did it.

panicjunky Says:

Jan 14, 2012 - All of you arguing about Robbie are missing the point entirely. Levon Helm is a God amongst men.

runntum Says:

Jan 16, 2012 - Whoa!

ezio1920 Says:

Jan 19, 2012 - Fools, Muddy Waters and BB Kind didn't and don't play a thousand notes a minute, they are "simple", and geniuses. Anyone who rates Alex Lifeson above Robbie doesn't know music

TheJmd441 Says:

Jan 20, 2012 - w/ all respect to Robbie detractors' I recall him, in his prime, as being quite economicalwith notes. and all of them going to the point of the song. TheBand was a great, organicmix; with vocals as deep as the earth is mined

MynamesJonny Says:

Jan 25, 2012 - Anyone notice how sloppy this number sounds on "Waltz" compared to this? I can't even listen to that soundtrack after discovering Rock of Ages.

tdawg1294 Says:

Jan 26, 2012 - @MynamesJonny that's because don't do it was their encore for the last waltz, where as this was their opening song.

taylordavis1234567 Says:

Feb 6, 2012 - Levon' the man!!!!!!!!
