Flunder Says:

Jan 29, 2012 - more Zappa on guitar. more Zappa less "poop"

Flunder Says:

Jan 29, 2012 - To gather a bunch of hacks milling around the stage and act like kocking out this great great song is beneath them. with a few warbles from Frank Zappa is pretty sad.Zep was four very talented guys who took the music somewhere that Zappa never did. as good as he was at his won music which I love? this is really crappy. must have been the end of some tour. Do people talk about Zappa today not much.Do people talk about Zep? all the time. this is shit....

JKTube Says:

Jan 29, 2012 - @cathoderoy: Yes, Steve Vai was playing in David Lee Roth's band at this time. I met him at a musical instruments store here in Tampa back in 1988 or 1989. I got into Zappa's music a couple of years later.

cathoderoy Says:

Jan 29, 2012 - @Flunder I detect a little jealousy behind Zappa parodying this tune...Zappa never came close to having a hit song, which I believe he was secretly would have loved to accomplish...I'm not saying anything against Zappa, who's music is brilliant, but I think he envied mainstream successes like Frampton, for example...I could be wrong...

cathoderoy Says:

Jan 29, 2012 - ...there's an extra "was" in there somewhere, and the rest of the comment will probably get ripped apart by Zappa freaks, too...whatever...

Flunder Says:

Jan 30, 2012 - those are nice chords in Stairway.it sounds alot better when Zep knocks it out. Zappa always dissed any and all Sunset Strip bands as well. I think your right some jealousy was at work here. Zappa didnt add anything to butchering Whipping Post either. geez ever the guy doing the actual chords sucks at it. the "singer " on that Whipping Post clip was unreal though!

Flunder Says:

Jan 30, 2012 - my favorite Zappa songs are Black Napkins and Zoot Allures.well and Inca Roads!:)

mannyslily Says:

Jan 31, 2012 - died ahead of his time? he was 53, had sleeping habits of a tweeker, yet extremly energetic and talented no doubt....

DrBongos Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - Zappa was a genius, but sometimes it just didn't work, like this one.

DrBongos Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - As for dying young, this dude lived twice his life in half the time.

cfbj0510 Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - @Flunder they talk a lot about Justin Bieber... Success and talent aren't the same. Led was a great band and Zappa was a great musician, but I see this parody as a comic thing. Not to offend Led or anything like that, just for fun, a meanless record, from an album made of covers of another bands or even of him. Try to listen to Hot Rats (1969). It's ahead of its time, a trully masterpiece, complexes arrangements, great solos. Do people talk about zappa today? Yes, Steve Vai, Satriani, Ozzy...

Sodenas Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - much better than zeps'

XDownByTheSeaSideX Says:

Feb 5, 2012 - @Sodenas Absolutely not, but close.

ThinkCenterLab Says:

Feb 6, 2012 - Hearing Zeppelin and Zappa fans arguing with each other is like hearing Giants and Patriots fans arguing. Most normal people wish BOTH sides would simply shut the f up.

vintonissimo Says:

vintonissimo Says:

Feb 7, 2012 - @Flunder :: scivi l'inglese come un marziano capitato in calabria.ma vaffanculo

Flunder Says:

Feb 7, 2012 - @vinton. "great google dee moogle dee" I love frank zappa and zep. no contest here.

Flunder Says:

Feb 7, 2012 - mexicans dont follow zappa. they want beans....

kaewonf8 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - I've seen this performance several times now and each time it's struck me a different way. First it was a straight parody, then it was half parody, half tribute (why the hell make the band learn the guitar solo note-for-note?), then unwitting self-parody -- Zappa striking the ironic pose, while his supposed fans are REALLY DIGGING STAIRWAY!! This is getting too confusing... Me, I'm a huge Zappa fan who isn't afraid to say I dig Zeppelin too. So sue me.
