Nov 4, 2010 - No, lord is higher then sir. If you are a lord you go to the house of lords wich I think the part of the goverment. To become a sir in england you have to be knighted by the queen. Not sure how it works in america

Dec 21, 2011 - tho what you say is true Sir does specifically refer to a knighthood, and really you only ever call someone a sir who hasn't got a knighthood is when your speaking to someone with higher authority (for example when you're in school with a male teacher) whereas the Sir for a knight literally becomes part of their name
