Punk: Attitude is a documentary on the history of punk rock in the USA and UK. The film traces the different styles of punk from their roots in 60s garage and psychedelic bands (Count Five, the Stooges) through glam-punk (New York Dolls) to the 70s New York and London scenes and into the hardcore present. Interviews with many of the musicians are edited with live clips and historical footage.

TheLeoSupremacy Says:

Apr 1, 2012 - Joy Division was definitely one of those bands that came the closest to purely embodying punk and yet they were omitted from this film. Otherwise, some great viewing here.

Apr 5, 2012 - He's the piece of shit that created the negative stereotype of punk rockers being stupid and dirty people, fuck him.

MissEgasMoniz Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - Quite pathetic that so many British twits think that punk was invented by the Pistols in 1976. There is a reason why Iggy Pop is called the Godfather of punk!

ParanoidAndroid98 Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - Is the list of bands at the beginning supposed to be a list of all the existing punk bands? Fucking hell, they excluded pretty much 90% of all the good ones.

samhain66 Says:

May 20, 2012 - Quite ignorant aren't you on the quiet, if you thought about it, you'd see why Hip Hop has a direct correlation with Punk. You obviuosly nknow fuck all of any importance.Racist skinhead music is racist arsehole white rock.

samhain66 Says:

May 20, 2012 - Or to be honest so he could put the much better PIL back on the road and in the studio, fare trade I'd say ! Johnny Rotten ceased to exist in 1979.

samhain66 Says:

May 20, 2012 - Erm, Iggy is the Godfather of Punk because he pre-dates it by over a decade, a huge influence yes but let's be honest 90% of American Stooges fans found them after they were given a resurgence by Punk. Its pretty pathetic that for records released in the 60s, they never really got any notice until the late 70s. The Early NY scene much as I love it would have faded without what happened in London, and the truth is, the culture was born in London with musical input from NYC and edgy 60s sounds.

MissEgasMoniz Says:

May 20, 2012 - Punk was born in Detroit - London in the late 70's was part of the second wave - not the beginning. Even the Ramones had been playing punk for 3 years before any British band. This is not a cultural contest - this is music history and fact.

skitzofranik999 Says:

May 20, 2012 - @samhain66 singing about your personal beliefs either they may be Right or wrong doesn't matter they do whats right in their hearts sounds like punk to me even if you don't agree Im beginning to think you may not know much about the hip hop industry to know that there isn't a direct correlation to punk at least not since the 1970's and 80's

samhain66 Says:

May 20, 2012 - The only problem being Detroit wasn't self aware as Punks, the label being attached retrospectively but its certainly where some of the first seeds are sown.the influence of The Stooges and the MC5 is enormous and integralYou can argue that British bands like Them, The Small faces and The kinks were making punk records before Detroit and most US garage bands were emulating the Beatles and the Stones and so the discussion can go on and on. Its the bastard offspring of Anglo-US musical mating

samhain66 Says:

May 20, 2012 - They both grew out of poverty, Punks used 3 chords, Hip-hop used Records, both made something out of nothing . They both were get up and do it yourself cultures that were born out of a reaction to the blandness of a mainstream that was alien to them. They also shared the empowerment and energy but you're right, its been a long time since they took separate roads. The rappers that have got something to say are few and far between, Hip Hop sold out its history long ago.
