Oct 7, 2010 - "Between the Lines" rates IMHO as THE singular most therapeutic album in the history of music...If you are in a good space, happy, "up" whatever and you listen to it it reminds you how lucky you are, there are those whose lives aren't what they had hoped for.If you are down, sad, disillusioned, suicidal etc it reminds that there are those out there with worse problems and more fucked up than you are.JANIS IS A GODDESS!!!

Nov 30, 2010 - I was introduced to this album in 1977 and owned a copy for twenty years till it 'disappeared' with so many other 'things' when I lived in Upper Cole Valley in the Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco and amongst other thoughts I've had; at least it 'ended up' in a city where it might still be doing some good. A profoundly relevant combination of Janis' sense for things that Society's Children go through as young adults; and I'm pleased to find here to hear once again; and reflect. Xião, iigemenii

May 17, 2011 - There are many albums [yeah I'm that old] that are called classic a few of them are but just a few are of that rare quality that they are timeless & speak to each pssing generation. Betweenthe Lines is 1. Classic is too small a word for every track is beautiful not least this 1.Thanks for posting them all.You have made this oldish man happy

Sep 27, 2011 - anyone remember "Jenny / Iowa Sunrise" ? It was like a prayer, moody & complex in lyric and composition. What I wouldn't give to hear that here on YT...

Nov 27, 2011 - @jacksons1950. Timeless CLASSIC. You are so correct. I was always amazed that Janis could write such lyrics and still survive. They so move me still....and I'm a lot older than you. :)

Oct 16, 2008 - Thank you for posting this! :) It is one of the most beautifully orchestrated and incredibly written and profound 'relationship' song that is--as someone said above--timeless. Janis Ian walked with the other (in my humble opinion) singer/songwriter giants of her time: Carol King, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Phoebe Snow, and Neil Young. If you ever get a chance, check out the work of these artists between 1970 -1977. You'll be blown away by the lyrics.
