Title: NRA: The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina
Added: Mar 7, 2007
Author: NRAVideos
Duration: 7:49
Description:
The video you will see on this web site is horrifying. The crimes committed against law-abiding gun owners are beyond comprehension. The arrogance of anti-gun politicians and government officials and their hate of freedom will churn your stomach. The law is the law, the Constitution is the Constitution. If ONE local mayor or police chief can decide what the Second Amendment means, it opens the door to tyranny—where ANY mayor or police chief can say what the Second Amendment means. You've seen this brand of abuse of freedom in the history books—in the pages about days of gun confiscations leading to the terror of Stalin, Mao and Hitler. But you'd never in a million years think it could happen in America.Well, it can and it did. And it will happen again unless we take action today.New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Police Superintendent P. Eddie Compass unleashed a wave of confiscations with these chilling words:"No one will be able to be armed. We will take all weapons. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns."Thousands of firearms were then confiscated from law-abiding gun owners. The police gave no paperwork or receipts for those guns. They just stormed in and seized them. With your help we're going to make the first time in New Orleans the LAST time in America. Thank you! Now, one year later, these crimes against gun owners have snowballed into a far greater threat to our freedoms.Even though NRA secured a court order demanding their immediate and unconditional return, almost every single confiscated firearm remains locked in government trailers. With the stroke of a pen, Mayor Nagin and Police Superintendent Compass are getting away with "murder"—a savaging of the second, fourth and fourteenth amendments of our Constitution. And they have put America on notice that they're going to keep seizing lawfully owned guns under any pretense.New Orleans gun owners are showing up at these trailers, with serial numbers of their firearms, expecting Mayor Nagin and his band of anti-gunners to respect the Federal courts. They are met by stony-eyed bureaucrats who say serial numbers aren't enough—and that gun owners now need PROOF OF PURCHASE of these firearms. How many of those gun owners do you think had original receipts for those firearms? And even if they did, how many do you think could find those receipts in the wreckage of a hurricane? Many of these firearms were passed down from father to son, generation to generation. Some are precious heirlooms. Some are collector's pieces won in our wars. And they were all lawfully owned and they must be returned to their owners. With your help we're going to make the first time in New Orleans the LAST time in America. Thank you!https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/donate.asp?CampaignID=neveragain

Jun 9, 2008 - wake up people, this is what we have to look forward to.
verne51 Says:
Jun 9, 2008 - First of all it's the second amendment that guarantees the first. And second, by the time you have to call 911 it's already too late. The police are rarely ever there to STOP a crime, be it robbery or rape or murder whatever. It is the responsibility of law abiding citizens to protect themselves and guns are merely a tool to accomplish that task. What happened in new orleans was a fucking travesty! They didn't take guns away from criminals, they took them away from law abiding citizens.

Jun 14, 2008 - With guns we are citizens without them we are subjects.
bullpup762 Says:
Jun 19, 2008 - This is an outrage. That woman clearly showed her revolver was empty with the cylinder open and she was not aggressive or using the weapon in a threatening manner. The U.S. is less of a democracy than ever before, because of all these left-wing, anti-gun nutjobs, we are becoming a socialist nation with no rights. Vote, don't let this happen and God help us if their are any more bans. Remember, "From my COLD, DEAD hands."
nate19226 Says:
Jun 19, 2008 - I can't wrap my mind around why so many Americans so blindly and stupidly advocate lax gun control laws. I'm from Canada and I live in the Victoria region of vancouver Island. We have around the same population as Baltimore except one tenth the murder rate. Now try and bash gun control
ScottieDM Says:
Jun 23, 2008 - Nate:Property rights are the foundation of freedom, and it doesn't matter what kind of property we speak of. If the government can take guns today what's to keep them from taking your house or your land tomorrow. Here in the U.S. this is supposed to be a nation by the people and for the people, not for the elite in charge.
sanmiguelito64 Says:
Jun 25, 2008 - The freedom we all enjoy today(or what's left of it)is directly linked to the founding father's implementation of the 2nd amendment. The Republic came into existence because the British wanted to confiscate the guns. The 2nd amendment is about the citizens protecting itself from tyrannical government. The U.S is the biggest armed camp in the world and the elite can't wait to change that.
camaroz28fatbuttgabe Says:
Jul 1, 2008 - it's not the fact that we own guns that gives America the highest gun related death rate. i don't personally know why so many Americans die by guns every year but if we all practice safe and responsible gun ownership and use, there'd be a whole lot less gun related deaths in the entire world, not just America. just watch the movie "Babel" and you'll see what i mean.
hovanti Says:
Jul 1, 2008 - This poor lady...the local police were real bullies. So, after a natural disaster, the 2nd Amendment is repealed? I think not.
statixman1 Says:
Jul 2, 2008 - This is just a taste of what will happen when the shit realy hits the fan. This government will turn on us in an instant and it doens't matter if U are the safest person with a gun or not, you won't be able to have on for fear of fighting back. Sickening that this was allowed to happen. They violated everyones rights.
Alexandra22773 Says:
Jul 9, 2008 - What kills people is laws restricting gun ownership. The cities that are the most restrictive about guns have the highest crime rate--like DC.Now Switzerland--EVERYONE owns a gun (just about) and the crime rate is extremely low.Gun laws don't matter to criminals.
SAYYOURROSARY Says:
Jul 10, 2008 - yes and grenade throwers and anti tank weapons , everything we need in case we need them, when the 2nd ammendment was written they had no tanks, Americans need to wake up Ron Paul 2012
Leavon Says:
Jul 14, 2008 - Pal you're not even an American citizen, do you even wonder why your government doesn't give a rip about your individual rights? Its because you don't have the perceived ability to force a change in the event they stop representing you and become a self serving entity. Oh wait too late, for your country I guess.
zigzagjim Says:
Jul 16, 2008 - yes ! who is this goverment affraid! if they don't wrong the people then they should have no fear of them right!
Eisenmond Says:
Jul 17, 2008 - these were not local police. They were police forces brought in from California to assist in securing the area... No wonder they had no sense of the constitution! This is a perfectly good example of why you always harness a weapon on your hip... if they try and take your weapons, let them know that if they attempt to cease your property without a warrant, that they had better be prepared to kill you! That wont look too pretty on the 6 o'clock news!Fight back! Defend yourselves!
diggingforgold Says:
Jul 23, 2008 - Was there any legal action taken against the government for this?
UKORASS Says:
Aug 8, 2008 - KORA
WhitneyGetz Says:
Aug 11, 2008 - How are we supposed to protect ourselves against the police if they take our guns away?
THEFLESHMANN1 Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - Try to take my motherfucking guns away, side effects may include severe lead poisoning.
wolfinside Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - Most Americans are unaware that the first gun control laws in this country were put in place to stop black people from owning guns. From that grave injustice we now have tons of evil unjust gun control laws.
mjakubas Says:
Sep 23, 2008 - do my rights include: having a gun, smoking some pot, aborting a pregnancy and marrying a gay dude. i think they do. i would like to see the nra join with norml, pro-abortion, pro marrying gay dudes and all groups that support indivdual rights. the fed has played a game of divide and conquer and they have fooled the american public. lets just continue to fight amongst ourselves. good luck to anybody that stands up for individual rights. our causes will remain in stalemate till we join.
locolopelocolope Says:
Sep 28, 2008 - Having crime and criminal-supporter court systems is bad; having an inefficient police is serious; but not being able to protect yourself is simply unacceptable. As a citizen from a country where criminals have all the "rights" while decent people get no help from authorities and courts (which are severe only against people who had to use a gun to protect themselves), I can only disagree with that kind of measures.I wish a had an nra in my country.
kertong Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - The NRA has my money and full support.I only wish they'd help me out in California.

marianneglinda Says:
