Description:
Google Tech TalksJune 18, 2007ABSTRACT"Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions and the Origin of Mass: Exploring the Nature of the Universe Using PetaScale Data Analysis"The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), scheduled to begin operation in Summer 2008, will collide protons at energies not accessible since the time of the early Universe. The study of the reactions produced at the LHC has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of the most fundamental forces in nature. The ATLAS experiment, currently being installed at the LHC, is designed to detect collisions at the LHC, to collect the relevant data and to provide a unified framework for the reconstruction and analysis of these data. Jul 22, 2011 - For all u smart cunts out there who want to make this a debate about semantics, let me clarify. When I said Science created such things, I was actually using something called personification. That's when you attribute human characteristics to inanimate objects or abstract ideas. I just thought u were bright enough to figure out I was using rhetoric, but I was wrong. If my comment was too advanced for you to follow, maybe u should stick to watching failblog videos.

MegaOrangePenguin Says:

Jul 23, 2011 - I understood you perfectly. I was simply adding to your comment, not trying to disprove nor ridicule you. Only adding that science is never to blame in ANY situation, making dancetoons comment look even more ridiculous. :( Sorry YOU can't think abstractly :(((((

domco2525 Says:

Jul 23, 2011 - Yeah, too bad I can't think abstractly. It helped when you added the :((((( symbol. Even though I'm not smart enough to know what you mean exactly, I think the symbol represents some level of sadness or regret. You, however, are the great thinker who had the vision to make the distinction between Science and scientists. Thanks for elevating my idea from the slow droolings of a neanderthal to something on par with a NOVA PBS special with limited commercial interruptions.

MegaOrangePenguin Says:

Jul 23, 2011 - I'm going to pretend you don't exist.

RoastLambShanks Says:

Jul 26, 2011 - Time does not exist, it is a phenomena that we humans perceive and conceptualise, as we objectify what we think of as reality. "Time" is nothing more than an idea to explain our experience of space and movement (both of which are also only just concepts). There is no BEFORE. There is no past, present or future.

Psychosix Says:

Jul 27, 2011 - RELIGION FUCKING LOL.

uniontera Says:

Aug 18, 2011 - We can make a clock but we can't make a time.

Aug 27, 2011 - this has been proven not be ture

bijmah Says:

Sep 10, 2011 - LHC has been in operation for a few years now and still there is not any sign of Higgs particles , i think world paid enough attention to Mr. Higg's theory and spend enough collective international and intellectual effort and money to try to prove his theory in hopes of explaining the particle's mass. I think it is time to allow other suppressed brilliant physicist to take over the helm and steer the science away from politics and dogma of British dominance in to the rightful path of science.

bertmollar Says:

Oct 6, 2011 - I'm not sure I would classify the Higgs Boson as "Mr. Higg's theory." It does fit nicely in to the Standard Model of Particle Physics which is incredibly successful in prediction and experiment.

NimacTry2 Says:

Oct 21, 2011 - Amazing and knowledgeable woman!

asalamulekum Says:

Nov 25, 2011 - Is there a "SETI-at-home" model for computational data analysis so you can borrow the CPU power of guest systems?

HawkNightDragon Says:

Dec 26, 2011 - How do they know their experiments are not being contaminated by particles entering from space. Do they ever leave the detector on just to see what hits it when no experiment is running?
