Feb 21, 2012 - hes saying this in the action section...irony?

darkendivide Says:

Feb 22, 2012 - Lol, he's nice to look at, but I don't think a guy his age could ever capture the full significance, emotion, and heavy weight of this speech. The actor's just too young. It was oddly comical. But he looks good!

Mar 4, 2012 - How old do you think Hamlet needs to be? I've always pictured Hamlet as a younger character. If you take the themes of inactivity and the oppression of the 1st generation to the 2nd generation that are so prevalent in the story of Hamlet, it really works better for Hamlet to be a younger character.Speaking of inactivity, it's interesting that he's walking around in the 'ACTION' section of the video store...it seems like a cultural statement for the 21st century.

Mar 4, 2012 - Indeed.

Mar 4, 2012 - Hamlet IS a teenager in the play. I'm saying that no current teenage actor today can possibly know the burdens Hamlet faces. He is mature beyond his years, and you cannot find this kind of maturity in the experience of any teenager in today's society. That's why an adult actor with more experience can better understand this role and, as well as the art in which you must speak Shakespeare's words.

sirherikus Says:

Mar 4, 2012 - I'm curious, though, how hold do you think he has to be?Also...I've met quite a few teenagers today who I think are mature beyond their years and who can comprehend the themes of Hamlet (as well as Shakespearean language) quite well.

Mar 4, 2012 - How old should the actor be? No specific age in mind, but my guess is that an experienced middle-aged actor would be better suited for the role. Have you looked at the 1996 film with Kenneth Branagh? He did a wonderful job playing Hamlet. Too old, of course, but the acting was superb. And the teens you know... are they actors? If so, fly them to California. Hollywood needs them. heh heh

Mar 6, 2012 - Arguably, Hamlet is not mature. He is driven by emotion if he is driven at all. I think that's why Hawke wears the hat...an indication of his inability to grow up.

hp2106 Says:

Mar 21, 2012 - what is the music title in this video ?

LilyNoelleArt Says:

Mar 23, 2012 - YES I agree. Hamlet is maturing in age, but in heart and mind he is still struggling. He is both a child and an adult, a little prince perhaps, not ready to be a king. His heart has an idea of what it wants, but no idea of how to keep or even attain it. He is immature but in a very sweet, pitiful way - I think he finally grows up just before he dies.

LilyNoelleArt Says:

Mar 23, 2012 - Hawke's age is perfect. Judging by Yorik's skull, scholars have placed Hamlet to be anywhere from 30 to 40, no older and I don't think younger. Yorik's body needed time to decay, but Hamlet is still looking for a bride and his mother is not too old. So, 30s is roughly where he would be.

May 14, 2012 - This is good, actually. It wasn't overdone although it was very close to it, and the fact that all the movie categories were "action" as I anxiously anticipated that phrase to arise in the soliloquy made the moment that much better :)Also, I like that hat.
