In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and Dave Carroll's Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. He discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people he communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate him for his loss. So he promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that he would write and produce three songs about his experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. Nov 19, 2009 - For any musicians out there who might find themselves in this situation in the near future, check out the response Taylor Guitars posted - they say that you actually CAN take a guitar on as a carry-on and a lot of TSA employees don't know that! You can download the actual rules on their website. Otherwise, get yourself a proper flight case if you want to check your guitar - many musicians have told me this is the only way to go.

Jan 5, 2010 - 7,092,356 views.....Way to go Dave!!!Flew united once..(2006)......in Charlotte...there was luggage laying on the ground in the loading areas and those guys on the little carts were just running over it....our whole plane witnessed it.....there were even a few suitcases out by the runway.....blew our minds and have NEVER flown United again.

May 23, 2012 - Interesting. About the same time Dave Carrol's Taylor guitar was broken, one of the Korean competitors in "Ride The Lobster" had their coker unicycle broken by an airline. That takes some effort! Thanks to a small army of fellow unicyclists from around the world, his unicycle was repaired overnight and he was able to compete in the international 5-day 800-km unicycle race in Nova Scotia, Canada.
