May 3, 2011 - i would say that if Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali were to try kickboxing, Tyson would do better. Tyson fought you up close and always kept on the pressure, staying in punching range where its slightly harder to throw kicks especially as his opponents were forced to move backwards. Tyson could maybe nullify a kickboxers kicks somewhat. Ali stayed on the outside in boxing (where he was very effective) but this would be the average range in kickboxing and so a kicks could be used well against him

He beat Jerome because Jerome's corner stopped the fight after it was declared a draw n they had to fight another round despite outboxing Botha. Also the Peter Aerts fight was not a real win it was due to a leg injury that Aerts sustained when he kicked Botha. Botha won a decision against Kaoklai who is 100 lbs lighter than him and ko'd a no name brazilian. Botha also got ko'd himself by a brawler named Mighty Mo

Botha got his ass kicked by a brawler in Mighty Mo, Jeromme Le Banner was pretty much boxing Botha and not (kickboxing). Botha couldnt handle a muay thai fighter 100 pounds less than him. Aerts hurt his legs, that didnt count. Botha said Mo punches harder than Tyson, which is obvious due to weight differences. You need kickboxing training to win more times than lose!!

Le Banner didnt play to his strengths, he chose to outbox a formidable boxer in Botha, who lasted against Tyson for 8 rounds. Le Banner never lost a boxing match untill the Botha fight. A small muay thai fighter lasted against Botha which is sad. Mighty Mo is a kickboxer, not a boxer.

Dec 4, 2011 - Just because Mo finished Botha with a punch, does not mean Mo is a boxer. Many kickboxers finish a fight with a punch, it does not mean they all automatically become boxers lol. Mighty Mo being a kickboxer enables him to (comfortably) use his hands to strategize well and neutralize his fellow kickboxing opponents. Just like boxing is more than just punching, there is more to kickboxing than kicking or punching. People win in their respective fields.
