Whether singing country, folk, or rock, the vocal harmonies of The Everly Brothers are second to none. "Love Hurts" written and composed by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant was recorded by The Everly Brothers in July 1960 and included in the LP, A Date with The Everly Brothers, released in 1961 on Warner Bros . The album peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Pop albums charts. The song was never released as a single by the Everlys. The album is available on CD on the Collector's Choice label.

May 5, 2012 - Nice close vocal harmony as always with the Everlies... strip away that aspect of the song (Nazareth, Joan Jett, Bon Jovi et al) and you kill the heart in it, in my opinion, and seeing as it's a love song, the best versions are the ones that pair a male voice with a female one (Gram and Emmylou, Keef and Norah), both of which are gut wrenching, but for my money (and sheer 'high lonesome'), Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris' version is still the benchmark.
