Today we are getting ready to go to the airport on a last minute trip. This is a great opportunity for me to show you what I do to prepare for a long trip. I want to bring a lot of healthy and easy to prepare foods for trips like these. I took some vegetables from my refrigerator and chopped them up (it took me about 15 minutes of prep time) into a vegetable salad. This will last us for 2 days (broccoli, spinach, beets, asparagus, radishes, fresh corn). It's a light salad that will work for us because we aren't going to be very active on this trip. This salad is full of nutrients and will make us feel very light and energized. Keep in mind if you are traveling on a plane, you can bring food, but not liquids. So, instead of storing my dressing in a container, I'm going to drizzle it on my salad and take it with me that way. This is my favorite quick and easy salad dressing, which you can find in my Easy Veggie Meal Plans, which you can get online. I make it by drizzling some sunflower seed oil, agave nectar and amino acids for the salt and fresh-squeezed lemon juice. It's great! You can take a lot of healthy snacks on the plane (vegetables, nuts, seeds). I'm also going to pack some celery sticks and cucumbers. Today we are talking about Vegetarian protein sources, and what's in my cupboards. We've done my fridge, so today we'll look at some of the foods that are surprisingly high in protein. Most people make a big deal out of protein, and for fat loss it's a tricky subject. We aren't going to go into too much detail in regards to that, but for muscle building, protein is actually overrated. If you're eating a lot of calories, then you'll have no problem getting your protein, even if you're like me and following a vegan diet. So what are the protein sources that I'm eating? First of all, we have Ezekiel cereal. A lot of people ask me questions about this stuff, exactly, where they can get it? We have it in health food stores and some grocery stores. The Ezekiel cereal has 8 grams of protein per half cup serving and you all know how easy it is to get 1 or even 2 cups of cereal in your bowl. So, from that alone you'll be getting a lot of protein, especially if you mix it with something like Hemp Bliss, a beverage containing 5 grams of protein Almond Breeze on the other hand, only has 1 gram of protein/cup. Former US President Bill Clinton recently confirmed that he is indeed eating a mainly vegan diet. In the interview, the former president explains the reason behind his decision to go vegan. "I'm trying to be one of those experimenters," said Clinton. "Since 1986, several hundred people who have tried essentially a plant-based diet, not ingesting any cholesterol from any source, has seen their bodies start to heal themselves — break up the arterial blockage, break up the calcium deposits around the heart. 82 percent of the people who have done this have had this result, so I want to see if I can be one of them." Clinton decided to adopt the diet in the early part of May 2010. While he does occasionally eat fish, the former president otherwise follows a strict vegan diet. What made him go vegan? Clinton has read many books on the topic, including books by T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. Dean Ornish. Although losing weight was a benefit of the dietary change, the choice to go vegan was about more than just losing weight. With time, Clinton could become the most outspoken proponent of a complete vegan diet."

Vegetarians Aren't Perfect
Before you accuse someone of being a hypocrite, really consider whether or not what you are saying has fair ground. For instance... if I say killing people is wrong & turn around to pay my taxes (much of which goes directly to war) I am a bit of a hypocrite, no? If I had a major stance against killing to an extreme degree, funding war would be... unfathomable... and yet you, me... so many people do it. The same goes with Vegetarianism & Veganism... you know? Like, we think it's wrong to kill animals... but we still walk outside inevitably stepping on bugs & eating food that likely has shredded up insects blended into them (another inevitability of harvesting crops). The world is not perfect, but we do our best to make sense of it all.

Foodies delight Dal Makhani is a famous dish of punjab in india. This dish is made from the whole black grams & kidney beans. Ingredients- 1 cup black gram dal 1/2 cup kidney beans 250gm chana dal 1 tsp cumin seeds 2-4 cups water 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 2 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 6-7 garlic pods 1 inch ginger 2 tomatoes 2 onions 2 green chillies Few coriander leaves 2 tbsp beaten cream 2 tbsp ghee or butter Salt to taste Preparation- Melt the butter. Add cumin seeds,onions,tomatoes,garlic,ginger,green chilli and mix well. Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriander powder,garam masala and mix well. Add the 3 dals-urad dal, chana dal,rajma and mix well. Add water,salt and let it cook for a few minutes. Add cream. Garnish with coriander leaves and cream.
