Phil Varone - Skid Row Drummer - Lecture
Phil Varone is an accomplished drummer, music producer and songwriter best known for his work with bands Saigon Kick and Skid Row. After 18 years in the music business, Phil left in 2004 to pursue a new career in entertainment. He spent the first two years producing the feature length documentary 'Waking Up Dead', released June 2007. 'Waking Up Dead is a documentary that follows Phil Varone while on tour with Skid Row and his addition to Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. Phil wants to share his story with today's youth so that they do not fall into the same trap that he did. Phil will be showing a short clip of the documentary then sharing his experiences and his stories with the audience. The audience will have a question and answer period, where nothing is off limits. Phil has a natural ease on stage that makes audiences really connect to him and his stories. Phil is truthful, honest and easy to communicate with. By sharing his story, experiences, as well as answering questions, Phil's goal is taking it one day at a time and enjoying life, drug free.

Doug Varone and Dancers - Arts in Healthcare
The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo is excited to share that NYC's Doug Varone & Dancers is in Buffalo for 2 weeks to conduct The Center's first funded project with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). This handheld video shows members of Varone's group of professional dancers working with patients in their hospital rooms at Women & Children's Hospital and Roswell Park Cancer Institute. (Patient is not pictured for privacy reasons) These activities are part of the Center's Arts in Healthcare program at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The patients are helping to generate choreographic ideas that will be incorporated into an as-yet-untitled, brand new dance piece that Varone will debut at the Center for the Arts during their public performance on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 8:00pm. Great seats for the show are available now, and Doug Varone will discuss the hospitals project during his pre-show talk that evening.
