Oklahoma State vs. UTSA - 2011 NIT Highlights
Highlights from Oklahoma State's 90-85 overtime win over UTSA in the second round of the 2011 Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tipoff at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Cezar Guerrero tied a school single-game record for a freshman with 29 points, and OSU overcame an 11-point deficit in the final 2-1/2 minutes as the Oklahoma State Cowboys defeated UTSA 90-85 in overtime. The win advances OSU to New York City to face Stanford in the championship semifinal of the Season NIT Tip-Off. Down 71-60 with 2-1/2 minutes remaining in regulation, it appeared that the Cowboys would suffer their first loss of the young season. Jean-Paul Olukemi was fouled and scored both free throws to cut the lead to single digits. After three-consecutive possessions resulted in turnovers, Reger Dowell hit a three pointer, cutting the lead to six at 71-65. Michael Hale, who had a team-high 26 points for UTSA, hit 1-of-2 from the line. Olukemi was fouled again, and hit both shots from the stripe to cut it to five. A layup by Igor Nujic with 1:12 left in the game gave the Roadrunners a three-possession lead. Olukemi grabbed the rebound off a Guerrero miss, and was fouled again, connecting on both FTs. A miss by Nujic and a defensive board by Guerrero led to a follow make by Le'Bryan Nash, cutting the UTSA lead to three. Hale hit both free throws after being fouled by Fred Gulley, putting UTSA ahead 76-71 with 27 seconds remaining. A missed three by Dowell, and a foul by Markel Brown gave Nujic a ...

Oklahoma State vs. UTSA - The Comeback
Oklahoma State trailed UTSA by 11 points with just a little over two minutes remaining at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys fought back, but still trailed by six with only a few seconds left to play. Freshman guard Cezar Guerrero became the hero of the game, scoring a conventional three-point play, then seizing an inbound pass to drain a 3-pointer to tie the game and send the Cowboys and Roadrunners to overtime. Oklahoma State ultimately prevailed 90-85 to advance to the NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden. Guerrero ended the night with a game-high 29 points, matching a school record for points scored by a freshman.

Official UTSA Football Georgia State Highlights Oct. 28, 2011
Sean Ianno's 32-yard field goal in overtime propelled UTSA to a 17-14 victory against Georgia State on Saturday at the Alamodome. The Roadrunners (3-5) rallied from an early 14-point deficit for the first come-from-behind win in program history. After Christian Benvenuto missed wide right from 48 yards out to start the extra session, Evans Okotcha set up Ianno's third field goal of the day with three rushes for nine yards on what turned out to be UTSA's first and only possession of overtime. The Panthers (2-6) jumped out to a 14-0 advantage on a pair of big plays in the second quarter. Donald Russell reversed field and raced past the Roadrunners defense for a 24-yard rushing touchdown with 6:28 remaining in the opening half. Kelton Hill then connected with Albert Wilson on a 54-yard scoring toss a little less than three minutes later to silence the announced crowd of 25977. Ianno connected on his first field goal of the afternoon, a 30-yarder, with six seconds left on the clock and Georgia State took a 14-3 lead into the locker room. After the two teams went scoreless in the third quarter, Chris Johnson scored from nine yards out to pull the Roadrunners with five and Eric Soza's pass to Brandon Freeman on the two-point try made it 14-11. UTSA got the ball back with 1:59 remaining in regulation and Soza drove the Roadrunners 50 yards to set up Ianno and the Pflugerville native sent the contest into overtime with a 39-yard field goal with 24 seconds to go. Soza was 17-of-34 ...

UTSA TRiO
The TRIO Programs are federally-funded programs dedicated to helping first generation, low-income students succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. The Pre-college Programs provide fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. Whereas, the goal of the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society. The term "TRIO" was coined in the late 1960's to describe three federally-funded educational opportunity outreach programs. The three original TRIO programs included Upward Bound (the oldest of the programs), which emerged out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 in response to the administration's War on Poverty; Educational Talent Search, which was created as part of the Higher Education Act of 1965; and Student Support Services, which was included in the Higher Education Amendments of 1968. Since the development of the three original TRIO programs, three additional programs have been added. Educational Opportunity Centers were authorized as part of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972; training programs for federal TRIO programs known as the Training Program for Special Programs Staff and Leadership Personnel were authorized as part of the Higher Education Amendments of 1976. The sixth program, the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement program, was part of the ...
