George Galloway vs American neocon activist Rusty Hubbarth on death penalty and Troy Davis
Go to 1:24 for the interview. From BBC News: Death row inmate Troy Davis has been executed in the US state of Georgia for the fatal shooting of policeman Mark MacPhail in 1989. Davis' death was delayed for hours while the US Supreme Court considered an eleventh-hour appeal for clemency. The 42-year-old's case was heavily disputed after most of the witnesses recanted or changed their testimony. Inside the jail in Jackson, Georgia, Davis protested his innocence until the end as supporters protested outside. There was a heavy police presence as hundreds held a vigil awaiting news from the US Supreme Court. "I am innocent," Davis said moments before he was executed. "I did not have a gun." Davis was convicted in 1991 of killing MacPhail, an off-duty police officer, but always maintained he was innocent. The US Supreme Court judges took more than four hours to issue their rejection of the final appeal, an unusually long time for such a ruling. "The application for stay of execution of sentence of death presented to Justice [Clarence] Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied," it read. Davis continued to protest his innocence in the death chamber. "For those about to take my life, may God have mercy on your souls. May God bless your souls. "All I can ask... is that you look deeper into this case so that you really can finally see the truth. I ask my family and friends to continue to fight this fight." Davis was pronounced dead at 23:08 (03:08 GMT Thursday), 15 minutes ...

Activists Occupy AIPAC with message to Congress: No War On Iran
***Take Action: Tell Congress and Obama: No War On Iran! Sign the petition at www.occupyaipac.org*** An AIPAC Policy Conference panel titled "Stopping Iran" had some unexpected speakers: activists with Occupy AIPAC and CODEPINK who stood up and "mic checked" Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Israeli Ambassador Jeremy Issacharoff. At about 2pm on March 5, four activists called out AIPAC for pushing for American support for an Israeli attack on Iran. One activist was violently attacked by an AIPAC member who used his tie to strangle the peaceful protester. Later in the afternoon two activists unfurled a "Don't Bomb Iran" banner inside the AIPAC hall. Security promptly pushed them out of the hall, and also forcefully removed an AIPAC delegate who had nothing to do with the action, but was taken out for being a bystander. The full People's Microphone inside the panel said: "Mic check! Ros-Lehtinen is pushing war based on lies. We are the 99% Wars benefit the 1% Don't bomb Iran! Diplomacy not bombs. AIPAC supports endless war. We support peace. Occupy Wall Street not Iran. Occupy Wall Street not Palestine. No war on Iran." The Occupy AIPAC coalition is gathering to urge Obama to reject the Israeli administration's push for war on Iran and insist on respect for Palestinian rights. Timed to coincide with the annual AIPAC policy conference from March 3-6, Occupy AIPAC aims to draw attention to the dangerous role of AIPAC as a special interest lobby that maintains a ...
Activists Confront Condoleezza Rice at Stanford University
Hello, I am the woman in this YouTube, seen protesting Rice from the audience. That day there was a whole group of us together: World Can't Wait, Stanford Says No To War, Code Pink. I am with World Can't Wait. The war criminals want a safe return to legitimacy, only public protest and rejection disrupts that. All of us were demanding to speak the truth about Rice as a war criminal (and the torture program was only one facet of her crimes). It is heartening to read so many comments of support, and if you'd like to talk more, please write me at sf@worldcantwait.org or check out www.worldcantwait.org I also want to comment back about some of the comments: First: Rice should be protested because of her war crimes and crimes against humanity --NOT for being a woman, or African-American. To writers of comments using ugly, racist and/or woman hating names against Rice -- and also to everyone else reading them: I ask you to think: Isn't hatred against Black people and women exactly the type of "thinking" that actually supports, and feeds, the existing power system -- which creates the wars for empire, and imperialist war criminals, that we oppose? Second: World Can't Wait's mission is to build and strengthen mass political resistance and opposition by people living in the US to the crimes of our own government. In politically confronting war criminals, World Can't Wait believes in, and acts on, the power of doing this through speech, only. Speech -- yelled aloud in the streets ...

The American Citizen is The New Indian with Activist John Trudel 1/2
John Trudell is an acclaimed poet, national recording artist, actor and activist whose international following reflects the universal language of his words, work and message. Trudell (Santee Sioux) was a spokesperson for the Indian of All Tribes occupation of Alcatraz Island from 1969 to 1971. He then worked with the American Indian Movement (AIM), serving as Chairman of AIM from 1973 to 1979. In February of 1979, a fire of unknown origin killed Trudell's wife, three children and mother-in-law. It was through this horrific tragedy that Trudell began to find his voice as an artist and poet, writing, in his words, "to stay connected to this reality." In 1982, Trudell began recording his poetry to traditional Native music and in 1983 he released his debut album Tribal Voice on his own Peace Company label. Trudell then teamed up with the late legendary Kiowa guitarist Jesse Ed Davis. Together, they recorded three albums during the 1980's. The first of these, AKA Graffiti Man, was released in 1986 and dubbed the best album of the year by Bob Dylan. AKA Graffiti Man served early notice of Trudell's singular ability to express fundamental truths through a unique mix of poetry, Native music, blues and rock. Since that time, Trudell has released seven more albums plus a digitally re-mastered collection of his early Peace Company cassettes. His 2002 CD, Bone Days, was executive produced by Academy Award winning actress Angelina Jolie and released on the Daemon Records label. His ...

Christian Bale blocked from chinese activist
BEIJING (AP) — "Batman" star Christian Bale, in the midst of promoting a film he made in China that some critics have called propaganda, was stopped trying to visit a blind activist living under house arrest — with a CNN crew in tow. CNN posted footage of a scuffle between Bale and the activist's guards on its website Friday. The run-in and publicity is likely to cause discomfort in China's government-backed film industry, which hopes Bale's movie "The Flowers of War" will be a creative success at home and abroad. It also raises questions about whether it was prudent to bring the star to see an activist guarded by thugs who have turned away dozens of reporters and fellow activists trying to see him in the past. Bale was due to leave China on Friday and his representatives could not immediately be reached for comment. A CNN spokesman did not immediately respond to questions about the story, but said a statement would be forthcoming. Bale, who won a best supporting actor Oscar for last year's "The Fighter," traveled Thursday with a crew from CNN to the village in eastern China where blind lawyer Chen Guangcheng lives with his family in complete isolation. They were stopped at the entrance to Dongshigu village in Shandong province by unidentified men. The footage shows Bale asking to see Chen, with a CNN producer providing interpretation, but being ordered by one of the guards to leave. He then asked why he was unable to pass through. The guards responded by trying to grab ...

Hillary Clinton's United Nations Speech - LGBT Rights.
"Incredible." "Brilliant." "Extraordinary." Those were the words used by a great many on Twitter and Facebook describing Hillary Clinton's speech on LGBT rights in Geneva yesterday to the United Nations Human Rights Council and President Obama's memorandum tying foreign aid to nations' records on LGBT rights. More than a few LGBT social networkers described themselves as being "in tears" upon hearing the Clinton speech, and many lamented that Clinton was not president -- and they weren't giving up on that prospect. "It was an incredibly brave and brilliant speech that makes me proud to be an American," wrote one commenter, summing up the thoughts of many. "Hillary 2016!!" There were quite a few dissenters as well, calling the administration's actions "lip service" heading into an election, and questioning why the president wasn't pushing harder in this country while pressuring foreign countries. Some pointed to Clinton's --- and the president's --- public opposition to marriage equality as a hypocritical position while they were lecturing other leaders about religion-based discrimination against LGBT people. "We need our politicians to stop policing the world and focus their efforts on fixing our homeland! I want equal rights and protection. AND I AM AN AMERICAN!! Talk is cheap and it is time for action!!" went one status update on Facebook. Several prominent LGBT figures gave HuffPost Gay Voices their diverse reactions as well: Dan Savage, author, columnist and founder ...

democracynow.org - Occupy Wall Street activist Cecily McMillan suffered a seizure when New York City police officers pulled her from the crowd and arrested her as hundreds attempted to re-occupy Zuccotti Park on Saturday, to mark sixth months since the launch of the movement. In her first television interview since her arrest, McMillan says she has decided to speak out because of an outpouring of public support. "I have received so many emails, Twitter messages and phone calls. People are just horrified about what happened to me." McMillan has a black eye and her body is covered in bruises, at least one in the shape of a handprint. She says she was not allowed to contact an attorney while she was taken to the hospital and transferred to a jail cell along with some of the 72 other detained protesters. Facing charges of police assault and obstructing governmental administration, she was released Monday after a judge denied a request that her bail be set at $20000. McMillan is northeast regional organizer for Young Democratic Socialists of America, and a graduate student at the New School for Social Research. We're also joined by Meghan Maurus, McMillan's attorney and mass defense coordinator at the New York City chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. This video was recorded at Rosa Koire's conference on Agenda 21, "Behind the Green Mask", August 6, 2011 in Santa Rosa, California. Agenda 21 is the Master Plan put forth by the United Nations in 1992 and adopted by President Bill Clinton. Agenda 21 is a green initiative which targets cars and people living away from cities who must commute. Their goal is to develop large, congested city centers for people to reside, and provide mass transit for the city dwellers to commute to work. It also targets large parcels of land in the world, including the United States, to be redistricted to "open space land", thereby making it undevelopable. Agenda 21 is now being adopted in California, specifically in the San Francisco Bay Area, under the name "Plan Bay Area". Plan Bay Area's goal is to develop large congested downtown metro areas, with shops, stores, theaters, and mass high rise housing. They aim to get people out of their private suburban residences and cars, and warehouse them in these large metro areas. These areas will also house California's large immigrant population, including illegal immigrants. Video Produced by Steve Kemp, Golden Gate Minutemen and Bay Area Tea Parties
Jaswant Singh Khalra: Human Rights Activist
ensaaf.org on September 6, 1995, the Punjab police abducted, tortured, and murdered human rights defender Jaswant Singh Khalra because he exposed the disappearances and killings of thousands of Sikhs by the Punjab police. In his last speech made to a Canadian audience Jaswant Singh Khalra discusses his investigations into the disappearances and his readiness to die to expose the truth about these crimes. "A mother's heart is such that even if she sees her son's dead body, she does not accept that her son has left her," says Khalra. "And those mothers who have not even seen their children's dead bodies, they were asking us at least find out, is our son alive or not?"
FREE MARC campaign at Justice Minister Rob Nicholson's Office
The FREE MARC EMERY campaign attended Justice Minister Rob Nicholson's office in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Thursday, June 10th. Head organizer Jacob Hunter was immediately assaulted and arrested by a Niagara Falls Policeman. The FREE MARC campaign was at Conservative MP Rob Nicholson's constituency office to stage an "occupation" sit-in protest, similar to dozens that have taken place across Canada. The protests are a response to the extradition and imprisonment of Canadian activist, businessman, and BC Marijuana Party leader Marc Emery. Marc Emery was extradited to the US for a 5-year federal prison sentence for selling seeds, even though he never left Canada. Vancouver police failed to have him charged here in 2003, then worked with US law enforcement to have him charged down there in 2005. Rob Nichsolson signed the extradition order himself on May 10th, 2010, which is the reason he was targeted by the FREE MARC campaign. The FREE MARC campaign leaders, Jodie Emery and Jacob Hunter, had done the same in Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office in Calgary on May 19th. Arrests have been attempted by police at almost all occupation/sit-ins, but the Constitutional Right to protest, and the fact that MP offices are public space paid for by public tax dollars, allowed for every occupation to proceed. However, this one was violently stopped before it even began. Jacob and Eric are required to appear in Niagara Falls court on August 5th for unjustified charges that should be ...

At the end of the speech, Davis brings news from Occupy Oakland--in regards to the police action, and Scott Olsen --and Oakland's call for a general strike on November 2, 2011 (6:14). "Decolonize Oakland, We are the 99%, We Stand United, November 2nd, 2011, General Strike, No work, No School, Occupy Everywhere."
