Over the past three years, filmmaker Andrew Napier (@andrewnapier) captured an up close and personal account of Cenk and his team while filming behind the scenes at The Young Turks. The yet-to-be titled documentary reveals the struggles Cenk has had to endure to become the host of a national television show as well as his mission to reform campaign financing to fix a broken political system. Epic of Ergenekon - The Rebirth of Turks (2637 BC)
In Turkic mythology it is believed that a gray wolf showed the Turks the way out of their legendary homeland Ergenekon. The genesis story of the Turks and Mongols is paralleled in the Roman myth of Romulus and Remus, the traditional founders of Rome. According to the ancient Turkic calendar of 12-year Animal Cycle the Epic of Ergenekon took place in 2637 BC (converted to Gregorian calendar). "We have now entered the historical period. This is a period full of disasters in Turkish history which is mentioned with Ergenekon now. This period is supposed to be the period before the Göktürks. The renowned Turkish historian Zeki Velidi Togan stated that the first Turk, fed by a female gray wolf, was born in the foothills of the Tengri Mountains. The so-called Ergenekon Legend, which is thought to have been created by the Göktürks, could indeed be interpreted as an explanation for the springing forth and spreading of the entire Turkish civilization. Turks possess one of the oldest cultures and civilizations in the world. It is hard to precisely specify the beginning of Turkish history. There is a high probability that the oldest culture of Central Asia, the so-called Anav Culture, which was unearthed at the end of toilsome archaeological and anthropological research and has a history that goes back to 4000 BC, has ties to proto-Turks. As we move forward into the more recent millennia of history, we more clearly see the linkage between the cultures of Kelteminar and Afenesavo ...

Are Turks really genocidal people? Think again....
The Turkish Passport tells the story of diplomats posted to Turkish Embassies and Consulates in several European countries, who saved numerous Jews during the Second World War. Whether they pulled them out of camps or took them off trains that were taking them to concentration camps, the diplomats, in the end, ensured that the Jews, who were Turkish citizens, could return to Turkey and thus be saved. Based on the testimonies of eye witnesses, who traveled to Istanbul to find safety, the Turkish Passport also uses written historical documents and archive footage to tell this story of rescue and bring to light the events of the time. The diplomats didn't only save the lives of Turkish Jews. They also rescued foreign Jews condemned to a certain death by giving them Turkish Passports. In this dark period of history, their actions lit the candle of hope and allowed these people to travel to Turkey, where they found light. Through interviews conducted with surviving Jews who had boarded the trains traveling from France to Turkey, and talks with the diplomats and their families who saved their lives, the film demonstrates that "as long as good people are ready to act, evil cannot overcome."

Turkish Air Strikes Kill 35 Kurdish Villagers
An airstrike in southeast Turkey killed at least 35 Kurdish villagers crossing into the country from Iraq on Wednesday night, a local official from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party said. "A group of villagers were coming from northern Iraq across the border after 9.30 pm Their path was blocked by soldiers and then four planes bombed them," said the official, Yunus Urek, blaming the Turkish military for the attack. The people were from the border villages of Ortasu and Gulyazi, according to Urek, who said he was in Ortasu "These are people who go across the border all the time, for their daily needs like sugar or fuel," he said. "Only one person survived with injuries." Vahdettin Ozkan, the governor of Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak, said a full investigation is underway. "A crisis center has been set up at the governor's office, and prosecutors and security forces have been sent to the region," he told Turkey's Anadolu Agency. Some observers have sounded the alarm in recent months about escalating tension between Turkey and its Kurdish minority, warning it may reignite a conflict that has simmered since 1984 and claimed more than 30000 lives. In October, an attack killed 24 Turkish soldiers in the southeast of the country. The Turkish government blamed terrorists for that attack, and the United States pinned responsibility for the attack on militants from a Kurdish separatist group, the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK.
