I love a band that incorporates audience participation in their live show and this was a sweet treat in the Spiegeltent (in more ways than one)! See and hear how a humble lolly wrapper can create special sound effects to a song about "murder and revenge" (!) I'm never going to see a Pascall lolly in the same light again!! A highlight of Tunng's final Sydney gig (and their 200th show!), at the Sydney Festival in Hyde Park (Jan 15, 2008)
Tunng & Soy un Caballo play "Robin"
Soy Un Caballo (Spanish for I am a horse) are a Belgian couple who write and perform songs of exquisite fragility, and record them in Brussels with an amazing line up of musicians such as Bonnie Prince Billy (Will Oldham), members of Raymondo and producer Sean OHagan (The High Llamas). Theyre one of the most distinctly English-sounding bands around, but the latest single from Tunng sees the London-based band hooking up with some like-minded souls from Belgium, the hotly tipped Soy Un Caballo. Released exclusively on gold 7 vinyl, this extra-special limited single has Tunngs version of Soy Un Caballos Robin on the A-side, with the bands original version on the flip.

Tunng Sweet William
Though the core members of Tunng, Sam Genders and Mike Lindsay, began their musical partnership composing scores for softcore porn, they soon decided to form a band that would bring together Genders' gentle vocals with Lindsay's guitar playing and songwriting. To fill out their sound, the duo added more guitars as well as female vocals, turntables, programming, and other percussion. Often labeled as either "future folk" or "folktronica" by critics who had a hard time placing the band's sound, Tunng released a handful of singles in their native Britain before their full-length debut, This Is...Tunng: Mother's Daughter and Other Songs came out in 2005 (the album was later re-released in the US the following year on Ace Fu). In 2006 their follow-up, Comments of the Inner Chorus, hit shelves. By this time more of a collective than anything else, especially because initially Genders had opted out of performing live, the six-piece (Genders and Lindsay plus vocalists Becky Jacobs and Ashley Bates and multi-instrumentalists Martin Smith and Phil Winter) released Good Arrows the next year.
