Traditional Libyan Music
I couldn't find any traditional Libyan music, specifically Malouf (which i'm a fan of!), and so thought I would fill the gap! Enjoy! This type of music is known as Maluf. It originated in Andalusia Spain when the Arabs ruled most of Spain. When the Arabs were expelled from Spain some of them went to North Africa and took this type of music with them. As a result Morocco, Tunisia & Algeria also have a similar style of Maluf music although it is known by a different name in those countries. There are many groups in Libya who sing Maluf, but Hassan Arabi and his group are one of the most well known. Traditional Latin Mass: Feast of the Sacred Heart
Traditional Latin Mass filmed on the Feast of the Sacred Heart in the small chapel of the International Seminary of Saint Cure d'Ars, Flavigny, France, in 1999. The seminary is the Society of Saint Pius X's second European seminary. Typically seminarians spend their first year of spiritually there before leaving for Ecône, Switzerland, to complete their training. The film presents the ceremonies of the Missa Solemnis or Solemn High Mass with Gregorian chant and polyphonic motets. Some local customs take place during the Mass. For example, birettas are not worn and the Domini Non Sum Dignus is recited aloud by all present. More astute listeners might also notice the French pronunciation, which is perhaps not the ideal. This film has been available on the Internet for quite some time encoded in a very low quality format. I have encoded the video here from an original source at the highest quality possible given the size restrictions at Youtube. Unfortunately this has resulted in a slightly blurred picture and mono sound rather than stereo. Apart from the addition of captions, the film remains unchanged.

The complains are about: 1 It's not traditional, but modern versions for the American market 2 The pictures of young woman with red hair are stereotyping and insulting the Irish people 3 Not all the pictures are from Ireland Everyone with an open eye must see that in no way my intensions is to insult anyone. But in order to make things right I change the name in Celtic music. In Northern Europe red hair is more common than in other parts (2-6 %) Scotland is billing the top and in second place Ireland with 10 %. So it's not stereotyping that I used (only) 3 pictures of young woman with red hair. My youngest daughter is blessed with beautiful red hair. I can in no way see this as a negative, insulting stereotype. You may like or doesn't like this clip. Insulting comments (mostly to other people who made comments ) will be removed.

This was originally aired 2 years ago (2005) on CBC Hemispheres. A unusual story from Taipei, Taiwan about a treatment for prostate problems. I had to record it because it was just so amusing and bizarre. Its based on Qigong (Chi Gong) healing techniques and is said to shrink enlarged prostates and result in healing and improved sexual functions. Adalat is a show - Promoolving around KD Pathak, a suave, sophisticated, witty and yet unconventional lawyer who is known as a 'Houdini' in circles of law because he can get his clients out of the tightest of situations. His success rate of acquittals is 100 percent. But most importantly KD stands not for his client, but for Justice. KD has an amazing eye for detail and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He always seems to know enough about every profession, and what he doesn't know he covers up/makes up with his smartness. A quick thinker. KD steps into a case when all is doomed for the accused. All the doors are shut. When the prosecution has prepared a water tight open and shut case where even a blind man can tell that the accused is guilty. But no one can see the case from the angle KD does. He digs fervently for loopholes in the prosecution's case much to their frustration and thinking on his feet, he manages to turn the entire case around. Often through histrionics, magical gimmicks (since he has recently started learning magic ... and uses a parallel between magic and justice... that often what we see is not all... there is something beyond it), performances, which the Judge does not approve of ! And nor does his ex-love Maya (The Prosecutor who is often at the receiving end!) - But that is KD. Unstoppable, incorrigible and completely enthralling and entertaining. It is a treat to watch him perform in court week after week, tearing the toughest of cases to shreds ...

Chicken Adobo is the national dish of the Philipines. Sweet and sour taste goes great with rice!!! For sure, many Japanese love this taste and so does my darling :D --------------------------------- Chicken Adobo (Traditional Filipino Recipe) Difficulty: Easy Time: 2hrs Number of servings: 12 pieces Ingredients: 12 chicken drumsticks with bone A * 1 clove garlic, sliced * 2 bay leaves * 1/2 cup (100ml) soy sauce * 1/2 cup (100ml) rice vinegar * 2 tbsp. sugar * 1 (200g=7oz) onion, cut into wedges * cracked black pepper steamed rice Directions: 1. Remove excess fat from the chicken pieces if desired. Prick the chicken with a fork to let the seasonings penetrate. 2. Combine A in a large pot. Cover and marinate the chicken for 1 hour. *you can use a Ziploc bag and keep in the fridge for more than 1 hour 3. Add 1/2 cup (100ml) water and bring to a boil. Then turn the heat down to low and cover with otoshi buta (drop-lid - you can use aluminum foil) and cook for 30 minutes. *if you can, stir occasionally 4. Uncover and simmer until sauce is reduced and slightly thickened. 5. 紅樓夢"A Dream of Red Mansions" Also called "Story of the Stone (Shitouji 石頭記)", this novel written by Cao Xueqin 曹雪芹(1715--1763) is said to be the greatest masterpiece of Chinese fiction. A wide branched scholarship does not consent about the main theme of this novel, should it be a novel of sentiment, of Daoist-Buddhist enlightenment, of social observation, of the decay of an aristocratic familiy, or even a veiled attack on Manchu rule. The frame of the novel is the contest of a Buddhist and a Daoist priest who make be born a young noble boy called Jia Baoyu 賈寶玉and his girl cousin Lin Daiyu 林黛玉. With a loving detail describing the life of the two cousins in a huge noble mansion, between gardens and palaces, the red thread is the triangular love between Baoyu, Daiyu and a second girl cousin called Xue Baochai 薛寶釵that is of more plumper character than the ever sick Daiyu. Switching between their life, the divine world and dreams, Baoyu becomes deranged after the disappearance of a stone (the origin of the second title) he had in his mouth when he was born. Not knowing, his love Daiyu died, he is tricked to marrying Baochai. Becoming aware of being tricked, Baoyu leaves the world of the "red dust" and becomes a monk. With hundreds of persons and their stories, paralleling the life and feelings of servants to the life of the main persons, the story is very complex and full of symbolisms, but very interesting and convincing for its encyclopedic character ...
