Tourette's: What Makes You Tic?
Marc Elliot just graduated from Washington University and has a complex form of Tourette's syndrome. He makes sounds and says words that he cannot control. Now 23, he is now inspiring audiences across the country by sharing his life story in order to convey the value of tolerance and the basic mental attitudes and behaviors that allow it to flourish. This documentary attempts to give the audience an inside look at how people react to others who are different and Marc's day to day life. In addition, Marc details the progression of his Tourette's with personal anecdotes.

I'm putting some different information in the descriptions of the various TT Camp videos: "ABOUT TICS A tic is a brief, repetitive, purposeless, nonrhythmic, involuntary movement or sound. Tics that produce movement are called "motor tics," while tics that produce sound are called "vocal tics" or "phonic tics." Tics tend to occur in bursts or "bouts." Tics are often characterized by whether they are "simple" or "complex." A simple tic involves one muscle group or one simple sound. Many simple motor tics are associated with the face/head/neck region, such as eye blinking, head jerking, shoulder shrugging, mouth grimacing, etc. Simple vocal tics include throat-clearing sounds, grunting, sniffing, and coughing. A complex tic involves a coordinated movement produced by a number of muscle groups (complex motor tic) or a linguistically meaningful utterance or phrase (complex vocal tic). As examples, complex motor tics can involve touching objects or other people, jumping up and down, spinning around, or even more complex motor sequences such as imitating someone else's actions (echopraxia) or exhibiting inappropriate or taboo gestures or behaviors (copropraxia). Talking About Tourettes Syndrome
PLEASE READ IF YOU THINK I'M FAKING A few people in my math class think I'm a fake and that really upset me. I don't yell in math because it's first period; right after I take my medication. And I do do a lot of motion tics, but I sit in the back and there don't care to look back at me. There are a few things I forgot to say. One thing is that tourette's is usually worse during puberty and that we can't control the things we do. This is me on a particularly bad day. The Tourette Syndrome
Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (Tourette Syndrome or TS) is a neurological disorder which becomes evident in early childhood or adolescence between the ages of 2 and 15. Tourette syndrome is defined by multiple motor and vocal tics lasting for more than one year. Many people have only motor tics or only vocal tics. The first symptoms usually are involuntary movements (tics) of the face, arms, limbs or trunk. These tics are frequent, repetitive and rapid. The most common first symptom is a facial tic (eye blink, nose twitch, grimace), and is replaced or added to by other tics of the neck, trunk, and limbs. These involuntary (outside the patient's control) tics may also be complicated, involving the entire body, such as kicking and stamping. Many persons report what are described as premonitory urges -- the urge to perform a motor activity. Other symptoms such as touching, repetitive thoughts and movements and compulsions can occur. There are also verbal tics. These verbal tics (vocalizations) usually occur with the movements; later they may replace one or more motor tics. These vocalizations include grunting, throat clearing, shouting and barking. The verbal tics may also be expressed as coprolalia (the involuntary use of obscene words or socially inappropriate words and phrases) or copropraxia (obscene gestures).
