Family's surveillance cameras rolling as tornado hits West Liberty It is a dramatic look at the tornado that hit one week ago today, unlike any we've seen before. The video shows the tornado as it took out homes in West Liberty. It was captured on a surveillance system that never turned off, and it recorded the entire disaster as it happened. "Well, I don't know what it's like, but I would compare it to hell," said Randy Risner. Randy Risner's surveillance system consisting of seven cameras caught the tornadoes fury from several different angles. "It didn't sound like a train, it sounded like thunder, and it kept getting louder and louder," Risner said. He and his wife, Norma, took cover in their basement. "You could actually feel the ground shaking and our the 11-foot basement walls were shaking, too," Norma said. "I didn't know if we were going to have a house standing, when we came out or not," Randy said. Damaged, their house stood strong. But the tornado destroyed their workshop (caught on camera) and another camera shows the roof of their neighbors home peel off like a sardine can. "If I hadn't seen him walk out of the house, no one could have told me, he lived through that," said Randy. His son Kyle's home, which neighbor's his, also took a hit, and can be seen from the video. "Without looking at this video you-all (WKYT) got from us, you'd never believe it," he said. "I'm just so thankful we are okay,and I thank the good lord," Norma said with a heavy heart. "But ...

On April 14, 2012, storm chasers Dave Demko and Heidi Farrar documented multiple tornadoes in northern Oklahoma, near the towns of Cherokee and Manchester, including two simultaneous tornadoes from close range (click here for more video from the violent "drillbit" tornado found in this sequence www.youtube.com -- EXTREME wind velocities--likely well into the range associated with EF-5 damage--were responsible for the dramatic audible roar as the tornado moved within 100 yards of them). This same storm continued northeast into Kansas and produced several damaging tornadoes after dark, notably in south Wichita and at McConnel Air Force Base in Andover.

Rare and Deadly Tornado Near Tokyo - May 6, 2012

Firefighters and medical teams rushed to the area after the tornado struck Tsukuba city, 60 kilometers (40 miles) from Tokyo. The city is a science center, with dozens of research and academic institutes, but the tornado appeared to mostly hit residential areas. A 14-year-old boy died after being injured by the storm, Tsukuba Medical Center said. More than 30 other people were injured, including at least 10 who were being treated at hospitals, fire officials said. Details of the death and injuries were not immediately available. Public broadcaster NHK showed rows of houses without roofs, apartment complexes with smashed balconies and shattered windows, and tilting telephone poles that could barely stand. Tornadoes On the Ground In Dallas Texas 4-3-12 Raw Footage
Tornadoes On the Ground In Dallas Texas,Tornadoes ripped through the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area Tuesday afternoon, launching tractor-trailers into the air as if they were children's toys. As a tornado spun through an industrial area in Lancaster, Texas, about 15 miles south of Dallas, it wreaked havoc on a fleet of trucks, perilously tossing them dozens of feet in the air. Severe storms brought golf-ball-sized hail and led to the touchdown of at least two tornadoes in the region. The skies darkened to a night-like level as the storms rushed in. A number of injuries were reported and homes damaged in the heavily-populated suburbs south of Dallas and Fort Worth.

Storm Chaser Jeff Piotrowski and Kathryn Piotrowski tracked a very dangerous supercell beginning South and East of Woodward, OK tracking near Wynoka, OK the cell produced multiple tornadoes with two large tornadoes on the ground at the same time. They saw roofs come off homes, downed powerlines calling into 911..then they tracked the tornado to Wichita KS where Jeff sent the message out to authorities when the tornado was near Clearwater KS that a destructive tornado was on the way.

A large supercell responsible for a violent tornado near Langley dropped another large tornado on the northeast side of Salina, KS and it crossed I-70 and moved toward the town of Manchester, Kansas before lifting. Twin Tornadoes Forming Near Waynoka, OK - April 14th, 2012
"SkyNews9 and News 9 StormTrackers spotted a huge rotating wall cloud Saturday evening that spawned two vortexes in northwestern Oklahoma. The twin tornadoes formed just after 7 pm and ripped across a rural area near Bouse Junction, just southeast of Waynoka. The tornadoes kicked up a lot of debris in the area. It may have also hit an oil tank battery and sparked a large fire. There were also reports of power lines down east of Waynoka. Emergency Management Director Matt Lehenbauer said Saturday the storm near Woodward damaged a metal outbuilding and a camper, but no injuries were reported. In Woods County, a tornado was confirmed 4 miles northwest of Freedom. Emergency Management Director Steve Foster said he hadn't received any injury or damage reports. Officials were concerned about the more than 5000 people attending a rattlesnake hunt at Little Sahara State Park in Woods County, but Foster said most were evacuated and others took shelter at the park." www.news9.com

4/3/12 - This tornado has been classified as an EF2 tornado. This is footage taken from Dallas Freightliner at I-20 and Bonnie View. The large objects you see flying through the air about half way through the footage are trailers on the north side of I-20 at the Schneider Terminal. News channels have confirmed a total of 11 tornados touched down (Now estimated at 14 tornados) . EXTREME WEATHER: Tornadoes Slam Dallas-Fort Worth Area - Sucking Up Truck Traiilers!
At least two tornadoes violently spun through the Dallas-Forth Worth area, collapsing roofs, ripping down power lines and tossing trailers around like toys, authorities said Tuesday. The National Weather Service said "considerable damage" had been reported near Cleburne, south of Fort Worth, and Lancaster, south of Dallas. Local television footage showed overturned and smashed semi-trailers on the ground in the southern portion of Dallas County. "Obviously we're going to have a lot of assessments to make when this is done," Dallas County spokeswoman Maria Arita said. Flights heading to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were being delayed almost three hours. AccuWeather reported significant damage at Six Flags Amusement Park in Arlington. Dallas Police spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey said twisters also caused damage inside the city limits. The storms spewed hail, some as large as baseballs, the weather service said. All tornado warning in the immediate Dallas-Fort Worth area were canceled by the National Weather Service around 3 pm CT, although two tornado warnings were still in effect for counties several miles northeast of Dallas. A tornado watch — meaning that conditions are ripe for tornadoes to continue to form — was in place for 33 counties in north-central and northeastern Texas until 8 pm CT, the National Weather Service reported. Weather service advisories said storm spotters and radar had showed separate "large and extremely dangerous" tornadoes south of Dallas ...
