TOCA 2 - Touring Cars
TOCA 2 Touring Cars was developed & published by Codemasters in 1998. It is based on the 1998 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). 1998 was the change of rules: with a sprint race & feature race. The feature race involved a compulsory pit stop. The qualifying for both races was determined by a single lap. I first got into the series when I got hold of the demo for TOCA Touring Car Championship, when TOCA 2 came out, I bought it. I usually play this great game on expert mode with manual gears and have no visual aids to make it as realistic as possible. The 90's were a golden period for the BTCC, with Supertouring 2.0 L cars, there were many classic championships. I first remember watching some races in the early 90's and I got heavily into the sport in the late 90's. In TOCA 2, there are 8 teams / vehicles: Honda Accord Audi A4 Vauxhall Vectra Volvo S40 Ford Mondeo Nissan Primera Peugeot 406 Renault Laguna There are 8 tracks: Thruxton, Hampshire Silverstone, Northamptonshire Donington Park, North West Leicestershire Brands Hatch, Kent Oulton Park, Cheshire Croft, North Yorkshire Snetterton, Norfolk Knockhill, Fife There are also 8 (unrelated) bonus tracks & 8 test tracks. In Championship mode, there is radio from the crew chief and pre & post race analysis by Tiff Needell. There is also a support championship with 7 different cars: Ford Fiesta Van Diemen Formula Ford Lister Storm AC Superblower Grinnal Scorpion TVR Speed 12 Jaguar XJ200 The support championship has a ...

TOCA 2 Touring Cars
TOCA 2 Touring Cars, the old racing legend game. The success of the first TOCA game saw a sequel arrive a year later in 1998. Whilst mainly an annual franchise update of cars and tracks, the game did add more detailed graphics, physics, multiplayer modes and other minor features. Fictional (but realistic) tracks were added, and support races such as Ford Fiestas, Formula Ford and others also arrived. The level of car damage possible during a race was also enhanced, which was a significant selling point compared with the likes of Gran Turismo. TOCA 2 for PC also has the ability to edit/download skins for the cars. They can be edited using any paint/drawing program. Simple re-colours can be completed in just a few minutes, adding an engaging and fun diversion to the racing action.

My favorite racing game on the PS2. The sequel to Pro Race Driver (also a favorite). Let's take a look at this game in depth and see all that it has to offer and why it's my favorite. This game balances various aspects of racing and game play to create a seamless experience. It includes fully analogue control, great cars and tracks, damage and great surround sound. I am always thoroughly impressed by this game. And from the video you'll see just how absorbed I am in the game. I highly recommend this title if you haven't played it already.

PSPscene -TOCA Race Driver 2 / V8 Supercars Australia 2 - Sony PSP
Yet another pretty to look at PSP racer. With so many PSP car racing games on the market, you'd guess we'd have our fair share of satisfaction by now. Well this game, is very good graphically, with excellent sound to boot. In many respects, it's on a par with my last review for TOCA 3. Eye candy applenty, the cars look as good as Atari's "Test Drive Unlimited, offering fantastic detail and realism. The Enviroments are good, with nice sky's and good road surface detail. Sound is great, with mega loud engine sounds with the purrrring of turbo's kicking in.....good stuff, other psp car games sit up and listen. Now the bad, the game suffers in the actual gameplay stakes, with very difficult car controls, that make holding the roads pretty tough for medium car racing fans, especially when you hit the more powerful motors. Heading into corners to fast results in loosing lots of positions and the infuriating wheel spin, from a standing start. You have to build up speed again slowly, or the wheels of your car will spin, slide and kick you back off the track. Again, the controls are more simulator based and are unforgivingly realistic but equally annoying to mediocre racing fans. The game will appeal to petrol heads with balls but for those who prefer a simple, forgiving racer will be left feeling frustrated. A lovely looking and sounding racer, suited to advanced race game pro's. 8.1/10 Rated
