For quite some time, Ronald Mallett has been working on plans for a time machine. This machine uses a ring laser and the theory of relativity. Mallett first argued that the ring laser would produce a limited amount of frame-dragging which might be measured experimentally, saying: In Einstein's general theory of relativity, both matter and energy can create a gravitational field. This means that the energy of a light beam can produce a gravitational field. My current research considers both the weak and strong gravitational fields produced by a single continuously circulating unidirectional beam of light. In the weak gravitational field of a unidirectional ring laser, it is predicted that a spinning neutral particle, when placed in the ring, is dragged around by the resulting gravitational field. In a later paper, he argued that at sufficient energies, the circulating laser might produce not just frame-dragging but also closed timelike curves, allowing time travel into the past: For the strong gravitational field of a circulating cylinder of light, I have found new exact solutions of the Einstein field equations for the exterior and interior gravitational fields of the light cylinder. The exterior gravitational field is shown to contain closed timelike lines. The presence of closed timelike lines indicates the possibility of time travel into the past. And perhaps, before long, the name of Ronald Mallett will be added to that list of modern day pathfinders and pioneers. Mallett, a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Connecticut, has been working on a time travel machine. The American physicist's invention would use a ring laser and Einstein's theory of general relativity. It would manipulate past, present and future by twisting Space and, along with it, Time into a loop. Imagine conquering the virgin frontier of Time like conquering the Atlantic or the Galactic. Reaching the distant shores of the past as the first European explorers reached the distant shores of America. But human travel through Time is probably a long way away. First things first. Dr. Mallet and his fellow scientists must first perform their historic experiment, and they are currently trying to raise $250000 to do just that. The Univ. of Connecticut Foundation, a nonprofit agency responsible for managing funding, has opened an account for donations to Prof. Mallett's time travel research. Through the wormhole S1E03 - Is time travel possible(FULL)
This makes me wonder: If time travel is possible, then why do we not have it and always have had it available to us? Then I remember the saying: Nothing is impossible. I then realize that if nothing is impossible, then surely it must be possible for some things to be impossible; otherwise it would mean that "Nothing is impossible" is false. So, since (nothing is impossible) = (everything is possible) - then it must be possible that some thing is impossible because if it isn't possible for some thing to be impossible, it would directly contradict "everything is possible", which would in-turn contradict "nothing is impossible". My conclusion is that: A# I have no idea if time travel is possible or impossible B# I'm not sure I understand what I just wrote( ok, this ones a lie xD ) C# I should have been in bed ages ago because now it may be impossible for me to get up as early as I had hoped. Anyways, I thought this episode really posed some interesting questions and I hope you all enjoy it. Makes me wonder if what we see as ghosts, could in fact be brief brushes between periods in time and to the ghosts, we are the ghosts. Perhaps somehow a "window" naturally manages to get opened between space and time which then allows a glimpse between past/present/future. I really don't know, it's late and I'm just day dreaming... as usual! Peace! With the recent coverage of time travelers documented in photographs from the past it was only a matter of time before such a being was uncovered in a motion picture. And now one blog has posted footage of what some believe to be a woman talking on a cell phone in Charlie Chaplain's classic 1928 film "The Circus." As this latest time traveler takes the internet by storm let's delve into what it could and couldn't possibly be. A youtube user first covered the mysterious figure passing by and the blog Forgotomori made suggestions about the various things it could be. After looking at the film several times it does seem like something strange is going on with a woman dressed in black. The scene happens during a transition as passersby move in front of the camera behind an elephant. And now the elephant in the room is the behavior of one woman wearing a top hat as she walks behind the creature apparently talking excitedly into something she holds to her face. Although her features are obscured enough to make a detailed identification impossible, it is apparent she is talking and smiling as she walks alone and holding something to her face in the way others would when talking into cell phones today. Is this a technological simulacrum from another time? Are we looking at evidence that time travel exists at some point in the future? And of course if time travel exists at some point in the future ...

This is an article that appeared in the New York World, April 29, 1906. I found it while researching my book on James E. Kelly (Tell Me of Lincoln). Kelly was friends with Inventor Charles E.
