Beggars Opera - Time Machine; from album Waters Of Change (1971) This band was from Scotland, their name is derived from a novel by the poet John Gray in 1728. The musicians of BEGGARS OPERA were Martin Griffiths (vocals), Rick Gardiner (guitar and vocals), Alan Park (keyboards), Gordon Sellar (bass, acoustic guitar and vocals), Virginia Scott (Mellotron and vocals) and Raymond Wilson (drums and percussion). BEGGARS OPERA made a lot of records but remained acting in the shade of most progressive rock bands. Their debut-album "Act one" (70) contains fluent and tasteful organ driven progrock with powerful "Sixties" sounding guitarwork. The long track "Raymonds Road" is a splendid tribute to the "classics" featuring Mozarts A la Turka, Bachs Toaccata in d-fuga en Griegs Peer Gynt Suite on the Hammond organ. The second album "Waters of Change" (71) is build around the dual keyboardplay of Alan Park and newcomer Virginia Scott and the distinctive, a bit cynical vocals of Gardiner. The nine tracks are beautiful symphonic landscapes with many organ solos, some swelling and glorious Mellotron waves (like The MOODY BLUES and early KING CRIMSON) and fine electric guitarwork. On the third LP "Pathfinder" BEGGARS OPERA seems to have reached its pinnacle: strong and alternating compositions with lush keyboards (Mellotron, organ, piano and harpsichord), powerful electric guitarplay and many shifting moods (even Scottish folk with bagpipes). The Time Machine (1960)
In George Pal's version of the HG Wells classic, Rod Taylor stars as George, a young scientist fascinated with the concept of time travel. On December 31, 1899, George seats himself in his jerry-built time machine and thrusts himself forward into 1917. A dyed-in-the-wool pacifist, George is distressed to see that World War I is raging all about him. He moves past the 1920s and 1930s into the 1940s, only to be confronted by another, even more terrible war. Next he stops in 1966, just as London is destroyed in a nuclear explosion. Retreating to his Time Machine, George is sealed in his cellar by molten lava. By the time he and his machine manage to escape their tomb, the year is 802701. Looking around, George observes a seemingly idyllic world populated by gentle people. But he also notices that the citizens of the future, known as "Elois," behave more like mindless sheep than human beings. Befriending the lovely Weena (Yvette Mimieux), George learns to his dismay that humankind has forgotten all that it has learned through the centuries, preferring instead to frolic endlessly under the sun. Plot holes and inconsistencies abound in The Time Machine, but the film's true selling points was its Oscar-winning special effects; in this respect, producer-director Pal succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Another plus: the haunting musical score by Russell Garcia.

The episode shows Attenborough searching for the identities of preserved creatures inside a piece of Baltic Amber that was given to him by his adoptive sister when he was twelve years old. The Amber Time Machine is part of the Attenborough in Paradise and Other Personal Voyages a collection of seven documentaries. It shows how a group of scientists can reconstruct an entire twenty million year old ecosystem through pieces of Dominican amber. Examples include a tadpole preserved in Amber after falling from a Bromeliad. Attenborough then discusses the scientific feasibility of DNA being preserved in Amber, and the science behind the 1993 hit techno thriller Jurassic Park, in which Richard Attenborough starred as John Hammond. Several attempts were tried, with DNA eventually being recovered from a weevil that was several million years older than Tyrannosaurus rex. As soon as I read it, I said "BRILLIANT!!! WE ARE DOING IT NOW!!!" In it's original iteration, Bobby was supposed to go back in time twice and get both arms bit off by the same dinosaur, and then go to the future and get attacked by a terminator type robot. Once we started looking for 3D models though, we stumbled across the Robosaurus Rex and instantly knew we had to retool the sketch to include the robot dinosaur. Hope ya guys like it! After more than a year and a half my car is back together and on the road. This time I'm driving the car to Jenks, OK. for a meetup with other members from the Oklahoma Delorean Owners group. I also brought my wife along for the trip. Believe it or not, in the 5 years I've had this car, she has never really gone on a trip with me in it. For this event, I decided to go with the Mr Fusion upgrade. Didn't have enough time to fully paint it up, but no one even noticed :) Sadly, I didn't have a beer can, but I did have a fake banana. Also put in my new overhead display with random lighting. I LOVE how that turned out. Oh, and I finally answered an age old question everyone asks about having a BTTF Delorean Time Machine :) New videos coming soon. I finally got my new video software up and running. Should be a blast.
