PARADISE FEARS, THE TURTLE (SEAWORLD VISIT)
Sam, Cole, Jordan, and Michael from Paradise Fears visited their namesake turtle at SeaWorld in San Diego. facebook.com/paradisefears twitter.com/paradisefears paradisefears.com In February, SeaWorld held an informal competition to name a Sea Turtle they had just rescued. In what they described as one of the largest responses they've ever gotten to a Facebook post, the Paradise Fears Turtles overwhelmed the competition, winning by 700 votes. Paradise Fears, the Turtle, is an Olive Ridley Sea Turtle from Coast Rica who was caught in a nasty current and dragged all the way to San Diego, where it washed up on the shore. They project it's about 40 years old, and will live to be 60-80. When the water temperatures are warmer, they'll release the turtle back into the ocean to find its way back to Coast Rica. A very special thank you to SeaWorld, for making all of this possible, and for an incredible experience! Why turtles?? Four years ago, just as Paradise Fears was starting out, their band name was Paradise Fears the Turtle. Admittedly a terrible name, they soon dropped "the Turtle" to become Paradise Fears. However, in the past year, fans on Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook alike have begun referring to themselves as Turtles. If you're curious as to the other faces you see -- Tiffany Taylor, the group's publicist, and Justus Meyer, long time friend from South Dakota, were with them on the trip!
