Axe, a new TI-83 Plus & TI-84 Plus programming language on-calc
Tribute video to the new Axe Parser project by Quigibo, on Omnimaga. Axe is a revolutionary new programing language for the TI-83/84 series calculators. It is designed with game creation in mind, but the applications are limitless. It offers an alternative to the restrictions of BASIC but without the complexity of pure Assembly. An Axe program can be written like any TI-BASIC program (in the on-calc editor, Source Coder or a TI-BASIC editor on the PC). Using the on-calc Axe app, the program compiles into a no-stub executable or to your favorite shell and therefore does not require any external application to be ran. Keep in mind this is a beta and its nowhere near complete, altough it is alerady functional enough to make full complex games without hinderance (except of course if you don't do backups and mess up your code). This video focuses on basic matrix use. There's also another way to enter matrices on the calculator. It's a little more difficult, but faster. If you're not used to it, though, then the matrix editor will probably be faster. Notice the way the calculator returns a matrix? It's basically a list of lists. And you can input a matrix directly into the home screen in a way that's pretty close to that. The only difference is that you put commas between the individual entries. Put a bracket around the matrix and a bracket around the rows, and separate the individual entries with commas. So, the first matrix would be entered as [[4,6,2][8,2,4][1,7,3]]. This procedure explains: 1- How to type notes on your computer and send it directly to the calculator! 2- How to prevent the teacher from resetting the calculator with a fake reset screen (he/she will require your secret 4 letter password to make program reappear!) Tutorial- Make your own TI-83 Drive game!
No computer needed! The code is very short for a game that's pretty enjoyable to play. This works for TI-83/84's. If you're making it on an 84, the game runs much faster. Not sure if I'll upload part 2, but if I did, it would show a way to check if you win and how to reset your axes/graphs. There's a noticeable slowdown (on the TI-83, not so much on an 84) when you add in a test for if you win, so I often leave it out when I play. Comment if you have questions! If a couple people comment about wanting to see a way to check if you win, I'll upload the 2nd part, otherwise I'll just leave it at this video. (Note- command locations given in [ ]s. They will be given the way I press them, so [2nd Draw right up] is pxl-Test, found under the Draw→Points→7, and [Prgm C] is Menu, option C under Prgm.) Code notes: A is your vertical position, from 0 (top) to 62 (bottom). B is your horizontal position, from 0 (left) to 94(right). C is current direction, with directions as follows: 2 3 4 1 x 5 8 7 6 Because the game uses the draw/graph screen, you have to clear the draw screen, turn off the axes, and make sure it doesn't draw any functions on the screen. This is done in the first 4 lines. To reset your graph screen, just go back to AxesOn [2nd format AxesOn], and FnOn [Vars right up enter enter], and ClrDraw if needed [2nd Draw enter].
