Daily News @ RevolutionNews.US ~ Researchers at Harvard tested the chemical THC in both lab and mouse studies. They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, THC actually activates naturally produced receptors to fight off lung cancer. The researchers suggest that THC or other designer agents that activate these receptors might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer. Although a medical substitute of THC, known as Marinol, has been used as an appetite stimulant for cancer patients and other similar treatments, few studies have shown that THC might have anti-tumor activity. *HERE IS THE INTERESTING PART* The only clinical trial testing THC as a treatment against cancer growth was a recently completed British pilot study. For three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors were reduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group. Raphael Mechoulam is an Israeli professor for Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. While working on research at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1964, Michoulam succeeded in the isolation, structure elucidation and total synthesis of delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main active principle of cannabis. This video discusses what THC does to the brain, it also touches on the 1992 discovery of Anandamide, also known as N-arachidonoylethanolamine or AEA, which is an endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitter found in human organs. When the compound is released into the brain it affects memory, appetite and pain. It was isolated and its structure was first described in 1992. Over the past few years, Professor Mechoulam, has become a great inspiration to activists, doctors, scientists and citizens worldwide for his dedication and continual striving to find cures to devastating human ailments, such as PTSD and chronic pain. Secret Marijuana THC/DUI Meeting Cancelled at Colorado Police Headquarters (8/24/11) Activist Robert Chase shows up to at CDPS HQ to protest an illegal meeting of the Marijuana Per Se Workgroup, a sub-committee of a state advisory committee charged with deciding on a 5ng or less limit on the amount of THC drivers in Colorado (including legal patients) can have in their blood for a DUI/THC bill to be introduced in the legislature in 2012. A marijuana THC/DUI bill was killed in the state legislature last year after lawmakers failed to prove that a 5ng THC level was per se proof of impairment. As of Aug. 24, 2011, the Marijuana Per Se Workgroup had met at least 6 times in secret meetings over the previous two months. Chase had sent several emails the day before asking that the secret meeting be cancelled in order to comply with Colorado's Open Meetings Laws requirements of timely public notice. They did decide to cancel the meeting, and informed all members of the Workgroup. But they did not notify Chase or post a notice on the website of the meetings cancellation. Chase, with some press covering him, showed up at CDPS Headquarters only to find out the meeting was cancelled. This is where this video begins...
