Vol. 1: The Ultimate Guide to Tewkesbury

A spoof documentary me and Anthony made. The footage itself sucks, we made it up as we went along, but we proudly present the end product. Shot on an old Sony Handycam, edited in iMovie. Please excuse some dodgy audio. Also some dodgy editing, I was working with some really dodgy footage at times. Shaky hand syndrome and trying to edit what should have been out-takes into the final product showed in some places. Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 are coming soon and currently in production. They will be better.

The Battle of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, which took place on May 4, 1471, completed one phase of the Wars of the Roses. It put a temporary end to Lancastrian hopes of regaining the throne of England. There would be fourteen years of peace before another political coup in the form of Henry Tudor finally settling the dispute between the two dynasties. Every year the battle is re-enacted in the second week of July at the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival. The event is now in its 25th year, and is the largest event of its kind in Europe, attracting enthusiasts from all over the world.

TEWKESBURY MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL JULY 2011!!

TewkesburyMedieval Festival is Europe's largest free, annual medieval battle re-enactment and fayre! On 9th & 10th July 2011, thousands of re-enactors travelledl from all round the world to help re-create the Battle of Tewkesbury of 1471. Located on parts of the ground where the original battle was fought, the festival also features a medieval camp, in which traders ply their wares and visitors are entertained by musicians and acrobats. Tewkesbury Medieval Festival was listed in 'Footprint England' as one of the "ten most bizarre festivals" in the country!!! This is the 4th year have been to this festival and it was as good as ever! The German Medieval rock band, Schelmish, played and they were brilliant!! I caught up with lots of UKH mates , too! (SD, Steve Rambo & Eve, Claire & Matty, DJ & TD, Amanda & Helen, Twister & Tet, Neyni, Hannah, Kaiya, Tom, DaisyD & G, Simon, Vik & Julian, Liz & Blair , Noctula, Gonzo, Feanor and Bike Bodger!) Tewkesbury Abbey

My visit to the Abbey in 2011. Although the Abbey was founded in 1087 by nobleman Robert FitzHamon, building of the present Abbey did not start until 1102. Built to house Benedictine monks, the Norman Abbey was near completion when consecrated in 1121. Embellishments to the long nave roof and the apsidal chancel were made in the first half of the 14th century in the Decorated style. After the dissolution in 1540 most of the claustral buildings and the Lady Chapel were quarried for their materials but the Abbey Church was sold to the parishioners for £453. Changes made since then to the internal configuration have developed to reflect contemporary styles of devotion, currently of the Anglo-Catholic persuasion.
