Google Chrome Speed Tests
These speed tests were filmed at actual web page rendering times. If you're interested in the technical details, read on! Equipment used: - Computer: MacBook Pro laptop with Windows installed - Monitor - 24" Asus: We had to replace the standard fluorescent backlight with very large tungsten fixtures to funnel in more light to capture the screen. In addition, we flipped the monitor 180 degrees to eliminate a shadow from the driver board and set the system preferences on the computer to rotate 180 degrees. No special software was used in this process. - Camera: Phantom v640 High Speed Camera at 1920 x 1080, films up to 2700 fps "Why does allrecipes.com in the potato gun sequence appear at once, and not the text first and images second? And why does it appear to render from bottom of the screen to the top?" Chrome sends the rendered page to the video card buffer all at once, which is why allrecipes.com appears at once, and not with the text first and images second. Chrome actually paints the page from top to bottom, but to eliminate a shadow from the driver board, we had to flip the monitor upside down and set the system preferences in Windows to rotate everything 180 degrees, resulting in the page appearing to render from bottom to top. "Why does the top one third of the page appear first on the weather.com page load?" Sometimes only half the buffer gets filled before the video card sends its buffer over to the LCD panel. This is because Chrome on Windows uses GDI to draw ...
Agile Testing
Google Tech Talks December 9, 2005 Elisabeth Hendrickson ABSTRACT As more teams are adopting Agile practices such as XP and Scrum, software testing teams are being asked to become "Agile" as well. But what does that mean? Is the Agile label yet another buzzword? Or could it be Agile practices are actually changing the way software is built? In this talk Elisabeth Hendrickson shares her perspective on how test teams can be more Agile based on her experiences working as a tester on Agile teams. Along the way, she'll provide an overview of how Agile practices differ from traditional practices and discuss what those differences mean for independent test teams. Software Testing: What is software testing job?
Career Training @ Portnov School (www.portnov.com) - 4 What is Software Testing job about. Why Software Testing might be your best career change opportunity? We teach software testing classes on-campus and online. Both black box software testing training and white box software trainings are offered along with automated software testing classes. Software Testing (Quality Assurance) is a unique IT job market niche for those who have limited time frame to change career path to a well paid profession. The profession is easy to learn. The job of a software tester is in finding differences between actual behavior of a software product and its expected behavior. Even with very limited technical skills you can test many web applications from the user stand point email, on-line retail store, web-communities, on-line banking, games, educational services, and many others. Wikipedia defines Software Testing as the process used to measure the quality of developed computer software. Software Testing is a process of technical investigation, performed on behalf of stakeholders. Software testing can never completely establish the correctness of arbitrary computer software; software testing furnishes a criticism or comparison that compares the state and behavior of the product against a specification. We define Software Testing as your chance to change your life.

nuclear testing.wmv
Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear). Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing"the fear and folly of nuclear weapons." It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming.

Airless tire test Humvee vs Hummer
Airless tire From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Airless tire Non-pneumatic tires (NPT), or Airless tires, are tires that are not supported by air pressure. They are used on some small vehicles such as riding lawn mowers and motorized golf carts. They are also used on heavy equipment such as backhoes, which are required to operate on sites such as building demolition, where tire puncture is likely. Tires composed of closed-cell polyurethane foam are also made for bicycles and wheelchairs. The main advantage of airless tires is that they cannot go flat, but they are far less common than air filled tires. Airless tires generally have higher rolling resistance and provide much less suspension than similarly shaped and sized pneumatic tires. Other problems for airless tires include dissipating the heat buildup that occurs when they are driven. Airless tires are often filled with compressed polymers (plastic), rather than air. Michelin is currently developing an integrated tire and wheel combination, the "Tweel" (derived from "tire" and "wheel," which, as the name "Tweel" suggests, are combined into one new, fused part), that operates entirely without air. Michelin claims its "Tweel" has load carrying, shock absorbing, and handling characteristics that compare favorably to conventional pneumatic tires. Automotive engineering group of mechanical engineering department at Clemson University is developing a low energy loss airless tire with Michelin through the NIST ATP project ...

How to Test Alternator Voltage Output (AutoUpkeep.com)
After watching this video, you will be able to safety test alternator voltage output. This test can be completed using a basic multimeter (~$25). Multimeters are also known as VOMs (Volt-Ohm-Meters) or DMMs (Digital Multimeters). The surface voltage of a fully charged battery when a vehicle is not running should be between 12.5 to 12.8 volts. Most automotive batteries are lead acid 12-volt DC (Direct Current). Each of the six cells in a 12-volt DC battery produces 2 to 2.1 volts. When the engine is running, the alternator will typically put out between 13.8 to 14.8 volts. Cautions: Park the vehicle outside or connect the vehicle's exhaust to an evacuation system. Carbon monoxide is deadly. For more car care information, visit AutoUpkeep.com.

Declassified US Nuclear Test Film #55
0800055 - Federal Civil Defense Administration Presents Lets Face It - No date - 13:25 - Color - Civil Defense, based on the assumption that a nuclear attack from the former Soviet Union was imminent, ranked high on the list of US priorities in the 1960s. The Federal Civil Defense Administration was in charge of this Cold War activity. A key point emphasized in the video is that for citizens to survive a nuclear attack, they must be prepared. This meant they must know the locations of approved Civil Defense shelters or have their own shelter at their home, or both. In the opening scenes, an Air Raid Warden is blowing his whistle while air raid sirens are blaring, and citizens are heading toward the shelters. The narrator extols citizens to prepare a fallout shelter with adequate food and emergency supplies. He warns that the usual emergency services such as fire, police and hospitals may not be available after a nuclear attack. He also urges citizens to know the sanctioned evacuation routes from potentially targeted cities. Citizens were expected to evacuate in an orderly manner, free from panic and driving mishaps. The video shows that many nuclear tests were conducted at the Nevada Test Site (NTS) to gain data that would help in Civil Defense preparedness. As part of Operation Cue, the video depicts many unidentified atmospheric tests fired to learn potential effects of detonations on citizens and cities and to test the effectiveness of Civil Defense organizations. At ...
C-130 YMC-130H Lockheed Hercules flight test accident crash
Discovery Communications Content copyright. Top secret Iran hostage rescue mission aircraft YMC-130H were three modified Lockheed Hercules Aircraft for Top Secret "Operation Credible Sport", for second Iran hostage crisis rescue attempt. One of the measures considered for a second hostage rescue attempt in Iran was a project to develop a "Super STOL" aircraft, to be flown by Combat Talon crews, that would use a soccer stadium near the US Embassy as an improvised landing field. Called Credible Sport, the project acquired three C-130H transports from an airlift unit in late August 1980, one as a test bed and two for the mission, and modified them on an accelerated basis. Designated as the XFC-130H, the aircraft were modified by the installation of 30 rockets in five sets: eight firing forward to stop the aircraft, eight downward to brake its descent rate, eight rearward for takeoff assist, four mounted on the wings to stabilize them during takeoff transition, and two at the rear of the tail to prevent it from striking the ground because of over-rotation. Other STOL features included a dorsal and two ventral fins on the rear fuselage, double-slotted flaps and extended ailerons, a new radome, a tailhook for landing aboard an aircraft carrier, and Combat Talon avionics, including a TF/TA radar, a defensive countermeasures suite, and a Doppler radar/GPS tie-in to the aircraft's inertial navigation system. Of the three aircraft, only one received full modification. The program ...
What is Test Case? - Software QA Job Interview Question and answer
The "What is test case?" question is a very common interview question in Software Testing field. Taking QA class in a college you might be just fine giving THE definition provided in that course. But, for the purpose of a successful job interview you might come up with a brief discussion, showing the multitude of views and concepts. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers defines test case as "A set of test inputs, execution conditions, and expected results developed for a particular objective, such as to exercise a particular program path or to verify compliance with a specific requirement." Wikipedia provides slightly different definition: "Set of conditions or variables under which a tester will determine whether an application or software system meets specifications." The difference between two is "verifying compliance with requirement" versus "meeting specification". In the ideal world we have perfectly defined requirements. In the real world we might have literally none. So, in QA we might deal with actual requirements or with self-inflicted, self-imposed requirements. No matter how well the formal requirements or specifications are defined Software tester will develop and execute test cases in the course of testing the software product. To the testers who are developing the test cases it is an instrument of planning for future testing. Many companies are outsourcing execution of test procedures. As a result we are seeing more and more people for whom ...

In software development process, the bug has a life cycle. The bug should go through the life cycle to be closed. A specific life cycle ensures that the process is standardized. The bug attains different states in the life cycle. The life cycle of the bug can be shown diagrammatically as follows: The different states of a bug can be summarized as follows: 1. New 2. Open 3. Assign 4. Test 5. Verified 6. Deferred 7. Reopened 8. Duplicate 9. Rejected and 10. Closed Description of Various Stages: 1. New: When the bug is posted for the first time, its state will be "NEW". This means that the bug is not yet approved. 2. Open: After a tester has posted a bug, the lead of the tester approves that the bug is genuine and he changes the state as "OPEN". 3. Assign: Once the lead changes the state as "OPEN", he assigns the bug to corresponding developer or developer team. The state of the bug now is changed to "ASSIGN". 4. Test: Once the developer fixes the bug, he has to assign the bug to the testing team for next round of testing. Before he releases the software with bug fixed, he changes the state of bug to "TEST".
