But we look at some of these hyped up social media and gaming companies that have gone public and ask if they can get away with some choose-your-own-adventure accounting methods to boost profits. And back in March, our futures veteran Mark Melin told us MF Global was worth more to some entities dead than alive. Well now we know how much its carcass is worth to the legal team winding down the estate -- the team led by the trustee and former FBI director Louis Freeh. They've reportedly racked up $25 million in fees! Customers are reportedly upset, as their money is still missing. We'll talk about some possible MF Global enablers that seem to be getting a free pass from regulators and investigators: the auditors. Plus, the Financial Times reports JP Morgan's chief investment office has built up positions totaling more than $100 billion in complex risky bonds - the types at the center of the 2008 crisis. This is in addition to the positions in credit derivatives that led to the $2 billion dollar trading loss we learned about last week. Has the bank's reputation until now as an "excellent risk manager" allowed it to escape scrutiny when taking these risks? We discuss all of this with Francine McKenna on this episode of Capital Account. McKenna is author of the blog re: The Auditors, and a columnist for Forbes and American Banker. We wrap up with responses to your viewer feedback.

Got backseat boredom? DVD players and Game Boys are so five years ago, but a new concept in rear seat entertainment technology that uses the windows themselves could replace squirminess and snoozing with interactive scribbling, sweeping and pinching. General Motors Research and Development put that challenge before researchers and students from the FUTURE LAB at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel. The task: Conceptualize new ways to help rear seat passengers, particularly children, have a richer experience on the road. The Windows of Opportunity (WOO) Project was inspired by psychological studies indicating car passengers often feel disconnected from their environment, GM asked the Bezalel students to turn car windows into interactive displays capable of stimulating awareness, nurturing curiosity and encouraging a stronger connection with the world outside the vehicle. "Traditionally, the use of interactive displays in cars has been limited to the driver and front passenger, but we see an opportunity to provide a technology interface designed specifically for rear seat passengers," said Tom Seder, GM R&D lab group manager for human-machine interface. "Advanced windows that are capable of responding to vehicle speed and location could augment real world views with interactive enhancements to provide entertainment and educational value." This woodland is a rare fragment of old growth forest that supports white oaks over 300 hundred years old. Stadium Woods is a living ecosystem and wildlife habitat that provides vital ecological functions, aesthetic and social benefits, and is a migration sanctuary for bird species from south and central America. The Virginia Tech football program has proposed to clear a 3-5 acre portion of this old growth forest in order to build a 100000 sq. ft., 90 ft. tall, $25 million, indoor practice field. We do not oppose the construction of this practice facility. However, we do believe that the proposed structure can be constructed elsewhere. The Friends of Stadium Woods are asking that you consider signing the petition below to help us save this one last remaining remnant of old growth forest. More than 4200 companies from 70 countries were there to show off their new products. The theme however was "Managing Trust: Internet security and data protection|. The German Federal Printing House, the state service that prints money, stamps and official documents, was at the show to present the new German Identity Card. It is more secure because instead of using a magnetic strip which is easy to clone, it features new encryption technology. Using this card with a reader, users can identify themselves from home, connect to public offices, receive all kind of documents via the internet and also use it like a bank card to withdraw money. Martin Gosen, the Head of Communication at the Bundesdruckerei said: "I think authentication trust is one of the main aspects of real business and this card will increase trust within digital business." At IBM they presented the Secure Desktop, which enables users to access their entire desktop, including their OS, apps and data, from anywhere in the world. The secret is this stick which gives access via a secure connection to the user's data stored in the cloud. Sean Rooney, a researcher at IBM, said: "We believe that we don't want to be lugging around large devices like this through airports and so on because it's unpleasant.
