Black school teacher tells a student he can be arrested for speaking ill of President Obama
SPENCER — After reviewing a video in which a North Rowan High School teacher tells a student he can be arrested for speaking ill of President Barack Obama, the Rowan-Salisbury School System said it can be a learning experience. Meanwhile, an expert on politics at Catawba College says the social studies teacher just doesn't have her facts straight when she insists speaking your mind about a president can get you charged with a criminal offense. Although two students provided the name of the teacher, we are not publishing it because officials within the school system would not confirm her identity and she could not be reached for comment. The video captures audio of the dispute but does not show the teacher or anyone else. It appears to have been shot with a phone or other device as the camera pointed at the ceiling the entire time. Rowan-Salisbury spokeswoman Rita Foil confirmed the teacher is still employed with the district and has not been suspended for disciplinary reasons. One student asks, "Didn't Obama bully someone though?" The teacher responds: "Not to my knowledge." In response to the Romney story, conservatives have recently been pointing to a passage in Obama's book, "Dreams from My Father," in which the president writes that while in grade school he shoved a little girl, the only other black student in his grade, after other students called him her boyfriend. CHERRY HILL, NJ - A New Jersey father says he was so desperate to save his autistic son from he calls the bullying of teachers that he sent him to school with a hidden tape recorder. You'll never believe the shocking things the teachers were caught saying. FOX 29's Sara Madonna has the recordings from a disappointed, outraged father. Stuart Chaifetz says his 10-year-old who has autism has always been a very gentle, loving boy. Video taken inside a Seagoville classroom documents a student brawl and shows the teacher looking on. For months, Michael Milczanowksi said he has felt targeted at Seagoville High School. "It was ever-constant, never changing, ongoing harassment — that's all it was," he said. Last week, Milczanowksi said it escalated in geometry class after an argument suddenly got physical. Another student was attacked, knocking over the sophomore and then punching him at least five times. "This kid was actually trying to hurt me, and I could see it in his eyes," Milczanowksi said, who is seen just standing there on the video. More troubling, perhaps, is that his math teacher never physically tries to stop the conflict, although he is heard saying "quit" several times. "I expected him to physically intervene to keep that from happening, but I guess I was wrong," Milczanowksi said. The incident ends when the 17-year-old eventually walks out.
