Here is the video of Mr. Derrick, a motorist tasered by police from the Columbia Missouri police department after 23 seconds!! He was stopped for allegedly having no front license plate. This video is an excellent example of proper use of force with a taser-gun. A very intoxicated suspect resists the officer's repeated lawful commands both verbally and physically. The officer finally has to taser suspect to prevent him from getting back into his vehicle, thus saving lives us innocent motorist. On May 10, 2011, 43-year old Allen Kephart died after having a Taser applied to him multiple times by three San Bernardino, California, sheriff's deputies during a routine traffic stop in Lake Arrowhead. "I feel that my son was murdered, I feel that something has to be done about law enforcement," says Alfred Kephart, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit in San Bernardino Superior Court, August 30, 2011. High profile police related deaths like Allen Kepharts' are pushing activists, families and courts to question whether Tasers or officers are to blame, but the answer to that question is a tricky one. Numerous studies and reviews from the National Institute of Justice, Amnesty International and the Police Executive Research Forum have come to different conclusions on Tasers and how officers use them. A study in the American Heart Journal even revealed that studies funded by Taser International were "substantially more likely to conclude Tasers are safe." Former federal prosecutor Laurie Levenson says that when it comes to Tasers, safety depends on the circumstances in the case. "We can remember back to the Rodney King case and in fact they did try to use a Taser there and it didn't work, where we had police using so much force, it was almost lethal," says Levenson. More than eight hours of video footage released Friday showed it was one of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's officers who used a Taser on a Latino military veteran that later died. The video also showed the veteran was nearly lifeless when officers put him naked in a cell and left him alone for about 11 minutes. Two agencies were involved in an altercation with Ernest "Marty" Atencio when they tried to book him into an Arizona jail on suspicion of assault last week. But until now, neither the Maricopa County Sheriff's office nor the Phoenix Police Department had admitted to using a Taser in the melee. That was despite the fact that an attorney for Atencio's family said doctors found obvious signs that some sort of stun gun had been used. Now, video released Arpaio's office shows it was one of his men, not any of the Phoenix police officers, who used the Taser to try to subdue Atencio. The veteran was taken to a Phoenix hospital after the scuffle. There, he was pronounced brain dead and kept on life support for days. On Tuesday, his family gathered by his bedside and gave doctors the order to remove him. He died a short time later. The video released Friday was made available on DVDs to local media outlets in Arizona. The footage showed the altercation from 26 camera angles. In the US, a twenty-year-old woman has been left in a coma after being tasered by a Florida police officer while handcuffed. Doctors say the woman was left brain dead during the incident and will likely never wake up. The police officer involved in the incident has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Moment Brazilian Student Dies After Being Tasered By Australian Police
THE uncle of Brazilian student Roberto Laudisio Curti, who died after being Tasered by police in Sydney, says the notion that his nephew was a thief or may have had a pre-existing health condition was inconceivable. Joao Eduardo Laudisio, a financier from a well-known and powerful family in Brazil, hit at NSW police as the family hired a team of Australian investigators to find out how the 21-year-old student died. "He has money for everything he wants," said Mr Laudisio, who helped raise Roberto after Roberto's parents died from cancer. He said he had personally taken Roberto for a thorough health check before Roberto left for Australia last year. Doctors at the hospital, one of the best in South America, had declared him "very healthy". Roberto had no pre-existing condition that could have been aggravated by Taser jolts or capsicum spray. At least three police officers fired their stun guns at the unarmed 21-year-old student early on Sunday morning. He stopped breathing soon after he was stunned and hit with capsicum spray. CCTV footage from Sunday showed up to six officers chasing Roberto. Police said he matched the description of a man they claimed stole a packet of biscuits from a convenience store.

The Florida Highway Patrol have cleared 267-pound Trooper Daniel Cole of wrongdoing and have released a disturbing dash cam video that captured him tasing a 100 pound, 20 year old handcuffed girl in the back as she fled. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement determined Trooper Daniel Cole's "use of force" was justified when he tased the woman last September at the FHP Pinellas Park Substation and cleared him of wrongdoing. The fleeing woman, Danielle Maudsley, 20, suffered severe brain damage after hitting her head on the concrete and has been in a persistent vegetative state ever since. The video shows Maudsley fleeing a back door of the substation with Cole following closely behind. Maudsley was arrested for her alleged involvement in two hit-and-run crashes and driving without a license. Cole brought Maudsley to the substation to complete his paperwork before taking her to the Pinellas County Jail, according to FHP reports. As she enters the parking lot, Cole deploys his taser and Maudsley hits the ground hard, with her head slamming into the asphalt. "What were you thinking? What are you, stupid?," Cole can be heard asking Maudsley on the video. "I can't get up," said Maudsley. "I don't want you to get up," said Cole. "I can't get up," Maudsley said again. Surveillance video from the courtroom shows 25-year-old Christopher Ruffin shoving a bailiff aside as he's accompanied into a courtroom. The bailiff attempts to wrestle Ruffin to the ground as a second bailiff comes to his aid, but Ruffin manages to keep both men at bay before turning and running from the courtroom. Fantelli claims after rangers found out she was transgender she was tasered in the crotch and once in the chest. REPORT: Tasers Can Cause Death
Tasers have been considered a better alternative to police tackling a suspect physically, or resorting to use their handgun. Now they're used by more than 16000 law enforcement agencies in 107 countries, including here in the US. But there have been a growing number of incidents over the past decade where they've been used in questionable situations. Groups like Amnesty International have argued that tasers need more regulations and that police don't understand or take into consideration the potentially lethal reaction. Findings by Doctor Douglas Zipes have echoed other doctors, who say that the conversation about tasers needs to be focused on whether this risk is low enough to warrant regular use by police. Doctor Zipes does say that cops should be properly trained and even carry a defibrillator on them at all times.

This is the consumer model of taser, built to be conceal carried. The two prongs reach a distance of 15' and a charge can be sustained for 30 seconds. For those women who don't want to carry a firearm, the C2 will allow women to engage the attacker for a distance and set down the taser and run away, if necessary. 90 Lb. WOMAN TASERED BY POLICE FILES LAWSUIT
STOW, Ohio — The use of a Taser by Stow police during a traffic stop is now the focus of a federal lawsuit filed by a Summit County woman, alleging police brutality. Chelsea Garrett, 23, told Fox 8, "When I woke up in the hospital, the first thing that I wanted was to know the truth. Now that I know the truth, all I want is the truth known." The trouble for Garrett began on Nov. 5, 2011, when she began having periodic blackouts while driving. Garrett, who is a diabetic, said she was disoriented after taking over-the-counter medicine for a cold. While in that state, she left the scene of an accident she caused in Akron, and then nearly side-swiped a Stow police cruiser. "I would never deny that, I was scared watching the video, seeing myself drive like that," she said. When the Stow police officer pulled Garrett over, dash cam video shows the 90 pound college student getting out of her car and stumbling toward the officer. That's when, according to Garrett's attorney, the officer punched her in the chest with a Taser he was holding in his hand, and then as she was lying on the ground, shot her with the Taser at least two times. "I would have gotten in the car, you could have handcuffed me, put me in the car, anything," said Garrett According to the federal lawsuit, Chelsea Garrett's attorney maintains she was tasered a third time after she was handcuffed.
