These tandem surfers are awesome! It's hard enough to surf solo but try holding 100 plus pounds over your head with one hand while balancing on a moving board. This 26th Annual Festival supports the National Kidney Foundation and is the place to be on Labor Day Week End in Cocoa Beach. Running from Sept. 1 through 5, the Pro-Am Event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity and given both young and seasoned surfers a chance to shine in the spotlight. I'll post a second video soon with more bikinis.

Patrick Ivison, an adaptive surfer, and surf dog Ricochet got together to tandem surf at Del Mar beach on Aug 20, 2009 for the first time. Patrick was run over by a car when he was a child, and suffered a spinal cord injury. He has used a wheelchair ever since. Ricochet fundraised to help offset costs of Patrick's physical therapy, and new service dog, and raised more than $10000 for him! And, one of her sponsors, the Rose Foundation awarded a grant that will pay for an additional three years of his therapy! The 2012 Noosa Festival of Surfing
The Noosa Festival of Surfing was established in 1992 in Noosa, Queensland by members of the Noosa Malibu Club, as an amateur surfing competition called the Noosa Malibu Classic. It allowed club members to invite friends to surf Noosa's right-hand point breaks and the event's popularity among competitive longboarders gave the club a chance to take the event to a higher level. In 1996 a professional division was introduced and prompted the name change to The Noosa Festival of Surfing (NFoS) in 1998. The World Tandem Surfing Championships were brought to Noosa in 1999 and Stand up paddle surfing was incorporated into the Festival in 2007 with live entertainment and fundraising auctions also being held every year. The festival commences with the traditional Mixing of the Waters ceremony. The Noosa Festival of Surfing is an official Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Longboard rated event.
