Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record forreaching the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp MonsterSport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special on Falken Wild Peak A/T tires, the powerful new line of all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April. Following exhaustive tests in a Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's race car helped push the driver forward.

And because of this Coach Ramil de Jesus of La Salle made adjustments on attacking the middle of the net and transferring their attack to the sides. The risky gamble paid off handsomely for Ateneo despite Tajima's fumble on her serve. Ateneo goes on in winning Set 2 in a heartstopping game full of excitement and thrills. Innovative in her approach, Mika Tajima combines painting, sculpture, design, performance, video and sound to create immersive installations that integrate these disciplines and in turn expanding the parameters of our experiences with each medium. For instance, her paintings are often hybrid objects that double as fine art object and stage prop. For her ambitious SAM Next exhibition, Tajima has envisioned a dynamic, architectural installation that explores the structure and language of painting as well as complicates the institutional history of displaying objects in a gallery. A video projection, a painting rack, double-sided paintings on wheels, and freestanding lamps, alongside wall-mounted paintings are brought together in an installation that will begin to burst at the seams. "After the Martini Shot" will be on view at the Seattle Art Museum July 16, 2011-June 17, 2012.
