Karajan - Brahms Symphony No. 2 in D, Op. 73 - I. Allegro non troppo (Part 1)
The Symphony No. 2 in D, Op. 73 was composed by Johannes Brahms in the summer of 1877 during a visit to the Austrian Alps. Its gestation was brief in comparison with the fifteen years which Brahms took to complete his First Symphony. The symphony is scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, and strings. The cheerfulness of the Symphony has been likened with the pastoral mood of Ludwig van Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. In contrast, Brahms' First Symphony was marked by its sombre tonality (C minor). I. Allegro non troppo The cellos and double-basses start off the symphony on a tranquil note by introducing the first phrase of the principal theme, which is continued by the horns. The woodwind instruments develop the section and other instruments join in gradually progressing into a full-bodied forte (bar 58). A new theme is introduced in bar 82 in F-sharp minor. After bar 182, the exposition may be repeated from the beginning depending on the conductor and orchestra. After the development section (see sonata form), the recapitulation begins at bar 302, with the second subject arriving at bar 350. Towards the conclusion of the first movement, Brahms marked bar 497 as "in tempo, sempre tranquillo", and it is this mood which pervades the remainder of the movement as it closes in the home key of D major. The first movement, Allegro non Troppo, is a very interesting movement. It almost seems to be an entire movement based ...

"The Accolade", by the progressive metal band Symphony X, from the album "The Divine Wings of Tragedy". Lyrics: Into the morning sun Down his chosen road he rides to save the world Cross of crimson, robe of white Sworn to the quest for the rest of his life Play shields and wooden swords Slaying dragons as a knight of Arthur's Court Trained to kill, to sing a song Youthful hope to right the wrong Sons of Antioch An angel's voice cries out to him Free the holy lands, bring peace to it again Across the seas through sands of time Knight of the Templar A charging steed through lands unkind A legend forever A heart of gold pumps within his metal skin A noble line he carries on [Dual Solo] Braving the bloody din Silver spurs are justly earned by strength within Squire to knight, like prince to king Chalice of life completes the ring Into the morning sun Down his chosen road he rides to save the world Across the seas through sands of time Knight of the Templar A charging steed through lands unkind A legend forever To see the light he spent his life to understand The sword he once held tight, falls forever from his hands Across the seas through sands of time Knight of the Templar A charging steed through lands unkind A legend forever

(Allegro molto - Lento - Vivo - Allegro non troppo e maestoso - Tempo come I) The symphonic suite "Scheherazade" is among the most famous works by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908). It is based on various stories in the One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights), a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales dating from the Islamic Golden Age. The work is framed as a set of stories within a story, since they are related by the queen Scheherazade to Sultan Shahryar in order to stave off her execution. Rimsky-Korsakov prefaced the score with this introduction: "The Sultan Schariar, convinced that all women are false and faithless, vowed to put to death each of his wives after the first nuptial night. But the Sultana Sheherazade saved her life by entertaining her lord with fascinating tales, told seriatim, for a thousand and one nights. The Sultan, consumed with curiosity, postponed from day to day the execution of his wife, and finally ...

Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals Symphonic Rock Remix: "The Very End"
Out of everything I've done so far, this would have to earn the top spot for me. It's not balls out metal like all of my previous remixes; this is a much more mellow interpretation of various themes from Lufia & The Fortress of Doom as well as Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. I originally planned to have lyrics in this piece (as performed by my good friend starla (known as injury on OverClocked Remix)), and one day I may move forward with this when I can write some that don't sound absurdly cheesy. There is one line of spoken dialogue near the end, from a pal of mine named DrumUltima (who also happens to be doing vocals on my upcoming solo album. Oops, I wasn't supposed to mention that). The purpose of the piece is to evoke a melancholy and remorseful feeling as it visits the various themes throughout; the first being the theme of the floating island as Maxim, Selan, Guy, and Artea fight their way through the Sinistral's hordes. Following that is a take on Iris' theme, as her true identity is revealed and her course in the story finally explained. After that, a very few brief pieces of battle music, until the line of dialogue is spoken. "Just rest; I'll hold you until the very end. I promise." While not taken directly from the game, I imagined it to be something Maxim would say to a dying Selan, their fates both firmly sealed as the floating island came crashing down to the earth below. For those following my stuff, thanks for the support and the comments, I'm going to be ...
