Now in its fourth year, the event features over 50 light installations, including a display on the 'sails' of the Sydney Opera House. Photogs in Sydney Harbor spotted the guy group boating yesterday and they looked to be having a total blast. Harry was spotted jumping off the boat and in some brightly colored swim trunks, while Liam opted to do some fishing. Later in the day, the guys took some serious relaxation, catching some rays on the yacht's deck. It's good to see that the hard-working group is getting some much needed time off -- after all, they're going to be bringing their A-game to Australia -- the ladies there are just as excited as the rest of the world's directioners! Happy Earth Hour! Sydney Opera House is proud to have turned off its non-essential lighting for Earth Hour 2012. This year, we joined UNESCO World Heritage sites globally to switch off between 8:30 - 9:30pm on 31 March 2012. Sydney Opera House was proud to have hosted the WWF Earth Hour awards and Earth Hour candles on our northern broadwalk. We also switched off all advertising screens, and a wedding and all staff working in Facilities and Theatre & Events turned their lights out for the hour. What a beautiful night on Sydney Harbour - we could even see stars of the Southern Cross above the Opera Theatre sails!

POLICE SHOOT TWO YOUNG ABORIGINAL MALES IN SYDNEY
POLICE shot two young males in a Sydney red-light district after they drove a car onto a crowded footpath to avoid pursuing officers this morning. The driver of the car, an indigenous boy of 14, and his 18-year-old passenger were shot while trying to escape officers who had recognised the vehicle and its young occupants. Both were unarmed. Four other males, aged between 13 and 24, were in the back seat of the car at the time. They were unharmed and were today being interviewed by officers at Kings Cross Police Station. The shooting occurred about 4am (AEST) on Darlinghurst Road in Potts Point, near the intersection with Bayswater Road. Police said a stolen Honda Civic sedan struck a female pedestrian and pinned her under the car after it drove onto the footpath. "People literally jumped for their lives," Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch told reporters today. "Police pursued that vehicle on the footpath by foot. They attempted to stop the vehicle." The vehicle struck a female pedestrian, who was pushed under the front of the car. "In an attempt to protect that person, they discharged a number of shots into the vehicle," Assistant Commissioner Murdoch said. "Whether that decision turned out to be the right decision is a matter for the critical investigation team. My advice is that the police had little other option." The driver was hit once in the chest and once in the arm and the 18-year-old passenger was shot once in the neck. Assistant Commissioner Murdoch said police ...
