Essential supplies to stock up on while you still can. Anything can happen in these uncertain times. It'll happen when you least expect it, and you'll need to be prepared. Natural disasters, Martial law, Economic Society Collapse, Domestic terrorism are just some of the things that can happen. This shows some of the cheaper supply options. There are some pretty good alternative options if your willing to spend the extra money. MREs have at least a 5 year shelf-life. Also a water filter would be great. I tried to add as much info as I could, and the video still went over 10 minutes. There may be a few items missing(garden seeds, vitamins, over the counter and prescription medicines, toilet paper, tampons, ect.). Also there are items that only pertain to your situation. Thanks. Is the Axe the Best Survival Tool?
It's just another data point for you guys but the short answer is no. But Nutnfancy's is not really anti-axe. There are situations for which an axe is well-suited. But I am realistic about how it rarely fits well into SURVIVAL AND BACKPACKING systems. Some armchair critics and car campers, sometimes inexperienced in backpacking, will tout the axe as a much better wood chopping and splitting tool than the survival knives I review and show in use. True, an axe is a capable tool as I show in this video. When wielded with skill it can chop effectively and it pairs of limbs with ease. But you'll need a long handled version like this $30-$45 Gerber Splitting Axe, #GB-42763, to minimize your work. Even then the axe is bulkier, heavier (4 lbs!), potentially more dangerous than a large survival blade, lacks the finesse to produce fine kindling, and its an inefficient use of your limited energy in a survival situation. Also its pretty much guaranteed that you wont have a large handled axe like this with you when you get stranded and/or youre miles into the backcountry. I have backpacked many hundreds of miles into various terrains and I see few backpackers, miles into the backcountry, porting around an axe of any kind. Theyre just too heavy and bulky (of course the Hot Shots use their Pulaski axes with good effect for trail-building, brush clearance, and fire suppression techniques but thats wilderness fire fighting). I dug this out by hand many years ago so I could have a secure storage at a retreat location. Its 12x15 in the main room. It has 5 foot of dirt covering the main room. I store food and survival goods here. Iam changing out the door and adding on to it. The cost was 0. The telephone poles where free,blocks for floor came from mobile home mover that just wanted them removed from a site. I covered the whole structure with 3 large commerical tarps that where free, the guy was moving from the country to the city and didnt need them. So just alot of labor.

Bug Out Bag Survival kit
Contents of my bug out bag for surviving disaster in the UK. I keep it in an M12 tactical bag. I would not take all of this equipment in every situation, only what would be needed and appropriate depending what the emergency is. I have a mummy style sleeping bag and small air matress. I have a SIGG bottle, 44 and 58 pattern water bottles with 44 steel mug, telescopic baton, sling shot, sharpening stone, larger and small folding saws, one to keep in the bag and one in my pocket. Bivvy bag, foil survival blanket, small guide books for info and to kill bordom, walkies, first aid kit... See More, soap bag, sewing kit, crank powered radio/torch, hunting/gutting knife and woodcraft knife, magnesium block, flint striker, whistle, headlamp, binoculars, waterproofs (behind the S10 gas mask) 550 paracord, compass, leatherman, personal alarm, zippo, a mouse trap, fold away cutlery and a small cooking pot. In the possibles pouch I have matches in a waterproof pot made out of an old shot gun cartridge, carabina clips, water purification tablets (also have them in the first aid kit and my water bottle pouch) and other odds and ends that might be usefull. I also have packs of tuna.
