Family's surveillance cameras rolling as tornado hits West Liberty It is a dramatic look at the tornado that hit one week ago today, unlike any we've seen before. The video shows the tornado as it took out homes in West Liberty. It was captured on a surveillance system that never turned off, and it recorded the entire disaster as it happened. "Well, I don't know what it's like, but I would compare it to hell," said Randy Risner. Randy Risner's surveillance system consisting of seven cameras caught the tornadoes fury from several different angles. "It didn't sound like a train, it sounded like thunder, and it kept getting louder and louder," Risner said. He and his wife, Norma, took cover in their basement. "You could actually feel the ground shaking and our the 11-foot basement walls were shaking, too," Norma said. "I didn't know if we were going to have a house standing, when we came out or not," Randy said. Damaged, their house stood strong. But the tornado destroyed their workshop (caught on camera) and another camera shows the roof of their neighbors home peel off like a sardine can. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released surveillance videos of some of the Russian spies arrested last year in the US. Using spy tools like invisible ink and hidden messages in online photos, the bureau's investigators built up a detailed file of the spies as they passed information and money. But some intelligence officials worry the documents could give too much away and alert would-be culprits of tell-tale signs they are being watched. Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Washington.

The Tucson Police Department recently received information that a group of 5 individuals, including 2 males and 3 females, may have information about the disappearance of Isabel Celis, which occurred between the hours of 11:00 pm on April 20, 2012 and 8:00 am on April 21, 2012. It is believed that the group was walking in an eastbound direction along the northern side of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, located at 215 South Craycroft, at approximately 1:00 am to 1:30 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012. They may have been walking in the direction of or directly to East Cooper Street. At that time of the early morning, the group may have been leaving the area of the Cactus Moon Nightclub or Risky Business Restaurant and Bar (located in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Craycroft Road). The Tucson Police Department urges the members of the group to call 911 as soon as possible.

Researchers highlight "dataveillance", the use of credit card, mobile phone and loyalty card information, and CCTV. Monitoring of work rates, travel and telecommunications is also rising. There are up to 4.5m CCTV cameras in Britain - about one for every 14 people. But surveillance ranges from US security agencies monitoring telecommunications traffic passing through Britain, to key stroke information used to gauge work rates and GPS information tracking company vehicles, the Report on the Surveillance Society says. Surveillance cameras capture lifesaving team effort
SALEM, Ore. — April 17, 2012 — John Juras, 61, of Salem, is a true fighter and survivor. "If it wasn't for this team at Salem Hospital, I'd be dead," he said. His girlfriend drove him to Salem Hospital on April 4 after he felt chest pains. Juras' heart stopped beating outside the emergency department. Hospital surveillance cameras caught what happened next as more than two-dozen people, including medical staff and hospital employees, swarmed outside to help Juras. A registered nurse performed CPR on Juras while he was still in the car. Once he was moved to a stretcher, another RN jumped on top and continued to perform CPR as he was wheeled into the emergency department. The medical team spent 45 minutes trying to resuscitate Juras as his heartbeat faded in and out. The team used a defibrillator 10 times. Juras was transferred to the hospital's full-service catheterization lab, the only one in the region that offers more than diagnostic capabilities. Additional services include treatment and surgery. A cardiologist in the lab discovered Juras had a blocked artery to his heart, cleared the blockage and inserted a stent. Juras then recovered over the course of 10 days in the care of medical staff and employees in the hospital's cardiovascular care unit, before being released to go home April 14. UPDATE~The Camden County prosecutor's office is now in the process of interviewing the babysitter of the child that was put into a washing machine at a Camden laundromat. The child is a 13-month old boy. Following the incident, the child was taken to West Jersey Hospital where he was treated for scrapes and bruises. In the video you can clearly see a man putting the child inside a washing machine. He closes the door and for a few harrowing moments the child is trapped as the machine fills with water. Fortunately, a laundromat employee came to the rescue. He raced to the washer, saw the child inside, quickly pulled away tables, opened a panel at the back of the machines and went straight to the circuit board to cut off the power. That allowed him to open the locked washer. The employee said that the child is lucky the washer was stopped in time. The little boy is ok but his family is fighting mad. The mother of the 13 month old Saimeir Bush, spoke out today. The baby's mother says the woman in the video is the girlfriend of the boy's father who was watching the child while she was at work. Laser microphone for audio surveillance via window panes
I bounced a laser beam off of a window in my house and recovered the audio from inside the room via the beam deflection. I used a Hamamatsu S7815 amplified photodiode and connected it with a 9V battery to my stereo's microphone input jack. The audio quality was very low -- probably due to the double-pane windows in my house. Speech was just barely intelligible. I also tested the procedure of bouncing a laser beam off of a framed picture that is hanging on the wall inside the room to be monitored. The reflected beam will hit a wall somewhere else in the room, and the dot can be monitored by a telescope from remote. The goal would be to measure the beam wobble via the telescope and recover the audio without needing a stringent geometric relation to the target room.
