August 20th 2009 was the first time Ricochet surfed with Patrick Ivison, a 16 year old boy with C4-5 spinal cord injury. 2 years later she has surfed with a number of surfers with disabilities, including Jo who lost her leg to cancer, and Sabine who was born without arms. Ricochet helps to counter-balance and stabilize the board. She's the only known dog in the world that surfs with special needs kids & people with disabilities for therapeutic purposes. She adapts her surfing style to their disability.

Ricochet is raising awareness & funds for Finnley who was born with brain damage, and not expected to live for more than 72 hours. She is a miracle, and is now 2 1/2 years old! Her brain damage left her with cerebral palsy, seizures, and vision impairment. She's not able to walk or not at this time, but loves classical music. She also adores being in the water. Swimming is very therapeutic for her, but they've been using a community pool, and now want to purchase their own pool so she can get 4-6 hours of therapy a day. Patrick Ivison, an adaptive surfer, and surf dog Ricochet got together to tandem surf at Del Mar beach on Aug 20, 2009 for the first time. Patrick was run over by a car when he was a child, and suffered a spinal cord injury. He has used a wheelchair ever since. Ricochet fundraised to help offset costs of Patrick's physical therapy, and new service dog, and raised more than $10000 for him! And, one of her sponsors, the Rose Foundation awarded a grant that will pay for an additional three years of his therapy!
