Running a supervised raster classificatin in Arcmap
Here I show an example how to run a supervised raster classification in arcmap (ArcGIS 9.2) to classify an image in three simple habitat types. Tools used are "create signature" and "maximum likelihood". I have obvious the step of the training location data in which habitat types are linked to known locations. Please if anyone would like to show how to do this in the latest version of ArcGIS, ArcGIS 10, that'd be great. Also I would like to know the way in Arcmap to calculate the accuracy of the estimated new raster. Thanks a lot in advance if anyone posts this in youtube :)

Sin City - CG supervisor reel
These are some of the shots I supervised for the Big Fat Kill segment of Sin City, in 2005, at CafeFX. I also did animation, lighting, effects, & tracking for several shots, as well as a little compositing. There were approximately 550 'digital backlot' FX shots in The Big Fat Kill segment that were mostly rendered in Lightwave 7.5, and composited in Digital Fusion 4. The CG Dwight flying thru the air, and the car crash shot were handled in Maya. Explosions were created using Afterburn in Max. RealFlow was used for liquids. I was a fan of the first graphic novel and had thought about how to realize it as a movie since the early 90s. Rodriguez was a great client to work for as he was wide open to ideas. I had the freedom to invent compositions and add my own details. I would rather have worked on the Marv story, but I knew the material well and lucked into an opportunity to contribute to a unique project. Sin City was nominated for Palme d'Or at Cannes.
[PURDUE MLSS] Introduction to Machine Learning by Dale Schuurmans Part 1/6
Lecture slides: learning.stat.purdue.edu Abstract of the talk: This course will provide a simple unified introduction to batch training algorithms for supervised, unsupervised and partially-supervised learning. The concepts introduced will provide a basis for the more advanced topics in other lectures. The first part of the course will cover supervised training algorithms, establishing a general foundation through a series of extensions to linear prediction, including: nonlinear input transformations (features), L2 regularization (kernels), prediction uncertainty (Gaussian processes), L1 regularization (sparsity), nonlinear output transformations (matching losses), surrogate losses (classification), multivariate prediction, and structured prediction. Relevant optimization concepts will be acquired along the way. The second part of the course will then demonstrate how unsupervised and semi-supervised formulations follow from a relationship between forward and reverse prediction problems. This connection allows dimensionality reduction and sparse coding to be unified with regression, and clustering and vector quantization to be unified with classification—even in the context of other extensions. Current convex relaxations of such training problems will be discussed. The last part of the course covers partially-supervised learning—the problem of learning an input representation concurrently with a predictor. A brief overview of current research will be presented, including ...
Object based classification using ENVI Zoom
This is a small presentation in which I have extracted the impervious surface (rooftops and roads) from a Quickbird image of Colarado. Different steps like segmentation, merging, refining are used to extract the object of interest. The final step of extraction gives its users an option to either use supervised classification method (training data) or do rule based classification. In this presentation I have limited it to supervised classification. I will include the more interesting side of rule based classification in my next presentation. The final step exports the area/ object of interest into a shapefile which in itself has ample applications. I hope its a useful source and motivation for you to explore this feature. Best of luck!!

Canadian government to appeal safe-injection site ruling
Visit CanuckPolitics.com for more. May 29, 2008 - Health Minister Tony Clement has made clear the Canadian government's position on Insite, the safe-injection facility in Vancouver's downtown East side. The Canadian government intends to appeal a BC court ruling that would allow the site to continue operating beyond June 30, 2008. Insite is operating as a pilot project under a legal exemption originally granted by the previous government that allows people to carry, traffic and inject illegal drugs in the supervised facility. The Conservative government extended the legal exemption until June 30, 2008 in order to conduct more research into the the program. Meanwhile, a British Columbia court has ruled that Canada's current drug laws are unconstitutional when they prohibit possession and trafficking of illegal drugs by those looking for help at facilities such as Insite. "I cannot agree with Canada's submission that an addict must feed his addiction in an unsafe environment when a safe environment that may lead to rehabilittion is the alternative." - Mr. Justice Ian Pitfield Clement said the federal government will appeal the recent BC court decision, saying supervised injection sites are well-intentioned but ultimately medically unethical.

Bodybuilding: Stunts Teen Growth?
aappolicy.aappublications.org Strength training IS very beneficial for teens and has almost no risk when well supervised. Strength training will NOT stunt a teens growth. According to the AAP, A well supervised strength training and fitness program has been shown to be very beneficial to teens in terms of bone strength, bodyfat reduction, cardiovascular fitness, cholesterol levels and mental health. There are three things that will stunt your growth: steroids, some supplements, and poor nutrition. People keep asking what supplements I recommend for teens. None!!!! I am firmly anti-supplement - *especially* for teens. I dont care if its creatine or Acai berries, my opinion is that if you have good nutrition you dont need any supplements. Its always best to get nutrients from their natural source rather than extruded from some machine in a factory. If you want creatine, eat meat! If you want Acai berrries, then eat the berries rather than taking some "berry-pill". If you are concerned about maximizing your strength and mass gains then learn how to eat healthy, dont pop pills! Intelligence in Wikipedia
Google Tech Talks November 11, 2008 ABSTRACT Berners-Lee's vision of the Semantic Web is hindered by a chicken-and-egg problem, which can be best solved by a bootstrapping method: creating enough structured data to motivate the development of applications. We believe that autonomously `Semantifying Wikipedia' is the best way to bootstrap. We choose Wikipedia as an initial data source, because it is comprehensive, high-quality, modestly sized, and contains enough manually-derived structure to bootstrap an autonomous, self-supervised process. In this talk I will present our success to date in this endeavor: A novel approach for self-supervised learning of CRF information extractors Automatic construction of a comprehensive ontology via statistical-relational learning Vast improvements in extraction recall through shrinkage over this ontology and retraining The stimulation of a virtuous feedback cycle between communal content creation and information extraction We aim to construct a knowledge base of outstanding size to support inference, automatic question answering, faceted browsing, and potentially to bootstrap the Semantic Web. Speaker: Daniel S. Weld Daniel S. Weld is Thomas J. Cable / WRF Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington. After formative education at Phillips Academy, he received bachelor's degrees in both Computer Science and Biochemistry at Yale University in 1982. Pre-Crime Technology To Be Used In Washington DC - Alex Jones Tv
Pre-Crime Technology To Be Used In Washington DC Steve Watson www.infowars.net Tuesday, Aug 24th, 2010 Law enforcement agencies in Washington DC have begun to use technology that they say can predict when crimes will be committed and who will commit them, before they actually happen. The Minority Report like pre-crime software has been developed by Richard Berk, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. Previous incarnations of the software, already being used in Baltimore and Philadelphia were limited to predictions of murders by and among parolees and offenders on probation. According to a report by ABC News, however, the latest version, to be implemented in Washington DC, can predict other future crimes as well. "When a person goes on probation or parole they are supervised by an officer. The question that officer has to answer is 'what level of supervision do you provide?'" Berk told ABC News, intimating that the program could have a bearing on the length of sentences and/or bail amounts. The technology sifts through a database of thousands of crimes and uses algorithms and different variables, such as geographical location, criminal records and ages of previous offenders, to come up with predictions of where, when, and how a crime could possibly be committed and by who. The program operates without any direct evidence that a crime will be committed, it simply takes datasets and computes possibilities. "People assume that if someone murdered then they will murder ...

Lockheed Martin - Squad Mission Support System (SMSS) [1080p]
The Lockheed Martin SMSS, an unmanned ground vehicle system, leverages robotic technologies for future robotic weapons systems. The SMSS will decrease the amount of time a Warfighter has to spend in controlling robotic systems by providing vehicles with a greater perception of their surroundings on the battlefield. Combining perception with extraordinary mobility will allow vehicles to follow the Warfighter across any terrain, guaranteeing the payload the robotic system is carrying will be available whenever and wherever the Warfighter needs it. The SMSS will fill a present need for the Army's combat operations. This robotics program, funded by Lockheed Martin as an independent research and development project, will provide manned and unmanned transport and logistical support to the Light and Early Entry Forces. The SMSS' supervised autonomy will provide the Warfighter with a reliable squad-size vehicle which will improve combat readiness, while assuring re-supply channels and casualty evacuations. The long-term vision of this system can accommodate armed variants, while improving its Reconnaissance, intelligence, Surveillance and Target Acquisition (RSTA) capabilities within the concept of supervised autonomy. A squad-size manned or unmanned support vehicle is critical to today's asymmetrical and urban battlefields. Lockheed Martin's experience in unmanned systems is unmatched with proven capabilities across all domains including air, land, sea and space. An integrated ...
Left Bank Bearcats - When The Saints Come Marching In
My father Joe Techner (pictured) was trumpet on the three Left Bank Bearcats "Dixieland" albums. Crazy solo at 1:54. The Left Bank Bearcat albums were knock-off albums probably made by Dave Miller's Somerset label to cash-in on the Dukes of Dixieland albums that debuted in May 1957. The recordings were locally supervised by Joe Kuhn, an army musician buddy of my dad. My dad recalled that the records were sort of "underground" since those responsible for them didn't go through the "proper channels" to make them. As a result, according to my father, Kuhn was beat up and later died. The official cause of death was cancer of the spinal cord following a two-year illness. Kuhn was probably beaten up for years of under-the-table recordings for Dave Miller. Miller imported recordings he supervised in Germany using readily-available cheap labor from the local musicans in post-World War II Europe. But Miller apparently didn't have the availability of French musicians at the time. So he tried to pass the Left Bank Bearcats LPs ("recorded in Paris") as some of these imports. Kuhn made the recordings hastily and clandestinely. However, local Philly musicians recognized the players' styles on the albums and the players themselves kidded about it. Those that controlled the music business came after Kuhn. Miller was elusive and was mostly abroad in Germany or England. Most of what we know about these recordings comes from trombonist Al Leopold, who also played trombone in the band of Jan ...
Dr Phil Show: Bring Back My Child (Pt. 1 Intro) featuring Austin Attorneys, Kimberly A. Gruber
Part I of Dr. Phil Show with Austin family law attorney, Kimberly Gruber, representing client, Cecilia, who went on the run with her child when the court refused to address her concern that the baby's father may be abusing the child. After visitation with the father, Cecilia would receive the baby with red marks and bruises, and the baby was utterly terrified. Cecilia, despite a clean criminal record, was arrested and imprisoned for a year for criminal charges of child abduction, despite that she was in constant communication with the baby's father through the entire trip. When Cecilia was released; she dealt with the effects of the civil violations as well- which only allowed her an hour of supervised visitation a month. As Cecilia is supporting her mother, she barely has enough money to pay for the supervision of the visitations, let alone an attorney. At the time of the show, Attorney Kimberly Gruber had advised Cecilia of her options, and Cecilia was trying to get a retainer together. At the present, Kimberly began her own firm with Law Office of KG, and is now able to take Cecilia as a pro bono case. Kimberly and Cecilia are working together to regain Cecilia's parental rights.
Secrets of Toontown 2 (Making of Who Framed Roger Rabbit)
The making of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and its relation to the history of animation, is discussed in this rarely seen Wonderful World of Disney documentary hosted by Joanna Cassidy. Walt Disney Pictures purchased the film rights to the story in 1981. Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman wrote two drafts of the script before Disney brought Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment to help finance the film. Zemeckis was hired to direct the live-action scenes with Richard Williams overseeing animation sequences. For inspiration, Price and Seaman studied the work of Walt Disney and Warner Bros. Cartoons from the Golden Age of American animation, especially Tex Avery and Bob Clampett cartoons. Production was moved from Los Angeles to Elstree Studios in England to accommodate Williams and his group of animators. Supervising animators included Dale Baer, James Baxter, David Bowers, Andreas Deja, Chris Jenkins, Phil Nibbelink, Nik Ranieri and Simon Wells. During filming, the production budget began to rapidly expand and the shooting schedule lapsed longer than expected. The animation production, headed by associate producer Don Hahn, was eventually split between Richard Williams' London studio and a studio in Los Angeles supervised by Dale Baer. When the budget was reaching $40 million, Disney president Michael Eisner heavily considered shutting down production, but Jeffrey Katzenberg talked him out of it. Eisner was also uncomfortable with the risque, adult nature of the film. Despite the ...

ABOUT THE FILM: Burzynski, the Movie is the story of a medical doctor and Ph.D biochemist named Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski who won the largest, and possibly the most convoluted and intriguing legal battle against the Food & Drug Administration in American history. His victorious battles with the United States government were centered around Dr. Burzynski's belief in and commitment to his gene-targeted cancer medicines he discovered in the 1970's called Antineoplastons, which have currently completed Phase II FDA-supervised clinical trials in 2009 and could begin the final phase of testing in 2011—barring the ability to raise the required $150 million to fund them. When Antineoplastons are approved, it will mark the first time in history a single scientist, not a pharmaceutical company, will hold the exclusive patent and distribution rights on a paradigm-shifting medical breakthrough. Zaid Hamid:BrassTacks-Yeh Ghazi Episode 21; Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh Part1
For eight centuries, the conquest of Constantinople, now Istanbul, Turkey, was a dream for the Muslim commanders. Ever since the era of the revered companion, Mu`aawiyah Ibn Abu Sufyaan (RA), there had been many attempts to conquer it, but none had succeeded. Every Muslim commander wanted to be the conqueror praised in the narration in which the Prophet (SAW) said: "You will conquer Constantinople. Its commander is the best and its army (that will conquer it) is the best." Who was then the person about whom the Prophet (SAW) gave glad tidings? It was Muhammad Al-Fateh son of the Ottoman Sultan Murad II. Muhammad Al-Fateh was born on 27th Rajab, 835 AH, 30th March, 1432 CE. He was brought up under the supervision of his father, Sultan Murad II, the seventh Ottoman Sultan. His father prepared and trained him to shoulder the responsibilities of the position of a Sultan. Muhammad Al-Fateh memorized all the Quran, learnt the Prophetic narrations, Islamic jurisprudence, mathematics, astronomy and the skills required for war. Shaykh Aaq Shamsuddin, one of the scholars who supervised the upbringing and education of Muhammad Al-Fateh, managed to inculcate in his heart the spirit of Jihad and the desire to be a person with high ambition. The Shaykh also told Muhammad Al-Fateh that he may be the one referred to in the Prophetic narration mentioned above. All this shaped the character of Muhammad Al-Fateh. He was devoted to Jihad, highly ambitious, widely cultured, and had deep ...
