Many years ago my father gave me a pack of Russian Sunflower seeds. They commonly grew to around 16' tall. Since then the squirrels have planted sunflower seeds all over our property and while the majority now seen to be around 7-8 feet, somehow these giant sunflowers at the end of our main driveway are already over 10 feet and still growing. It's now grown another 2 feet since I posted this video.

Visitors are invited to walk across the surface of the work. It's a sensory and immersive installation, which visitors can touch, walk on and listen to as the seeds shift beneath their feet. Although they look identical from a distance, every seed is different and handcrafted by skilled artisans. Sunflower Seeds is the largest work Ai Weiwei has made using porcelain, one of China's most prized exports. Previously Ai has created imitation fruit, clothes and vases. "Sunflower Shoot" Pt 1 by Nutnfancy
Sunflowers overrun this beautiful area and once again nature provides me with a theme to the shoot (technically Black Eyed Susans but close enough!). I've never seen this before out here and it's probably due to a record water year. It makes for a special and scenic backdrop in this remote area as I host Actiontarget.com in The Nutnfancy Project. We are collaborating on some "screaming targets" which I suggested to them in SHOT 2011. Also we get to test their already-existing electronic counter targets which feature sensors on a string of polymer mini-plates. The system works perfectly and provides a reviewable total of your shooting performance. I like it. Perhaps in future versions we can change how it displays the information (like a simple total for all shots fired as well) and make it into a MODULE for carry-along convenience. Jerrod bring girlfriend Amanda along for the shoot and Avrami is also helping out and monitoring the targets' performance in real world conditions. Of course in TNP there's always lots of product testing going on as well. Check out more running of the surprising Hi-Point 995TS carbine which endears itself (other than weight!). Some pistols like the Daewoo DP-51, Sig P2022, and Glock 26 also makes some runs on the steel and we draw conclusions. In Part 2, we get newby Amanda running in the being tested-Remington 597! The crew and I break out the AR-15s in the final part of this shoot, backed up by some good pistol testing on AT steel as well. Several more runs ensue. I have us close on that last electronic target to test its rapid fire capabilities and just to have some fun. When see Avarami do his IDF charge on the target and he even manages to hit it a few times in the process (great style, bad accuracy). It's fair to say the electronic targets I'm helping Actiontarget.com are a success. From this shoot alone several key improvements will be realized as well. I would like an attachable module to my MOLLE/LBE that gives LOUD and ongoing feedback as the shooter connects to those durable polymer targets. Even when we range out to 500 yards, a distance beyond Version 1 spec, they perform to perfection when hit with the Savage 10FP .308. With 2 MOA ball ammo that was a tough enough shot. I discover an unpleasant characteristic of the Savage Accu-Trigger and how it LOCKS UP when slightly touched from the side! Not good. But it is accurate and pleasant to shoot once past that. The expansive valley is scenic and provides a striking backdrop as I end another TNP shoot. I take you with me on the epic drive out through the sunflowers (and they did indeed scratch the truck up!).
