China's economy is expanding at an astounding rate - but its waistlines are too. The food of the streets tells the story of a culture torn between tradition and modernity, the customs of an ancient past competing with the convenience age of the new. What will survive and what will be lost? In a China which has gone within two generations from mass starvation to mass obesity, what does the future hold?

Street Food in Israel

www.israel.org Food for thought on Israel's streets Street food is enjoying a revival around the world ... and the Israeli street is packed with mouth-watering morsels. If you enjoy food, then in Israel you don't have to splash out on expensive restaurants, instead you can enjoy one of the many inexpensive eateries that line the streets of the country's cities and towns. Fresh, authentic and quintessentially Mideast fare is on offer -- from falafel, deep-fried balls of mashed chickpeas, fava beans and herbs; to shwarma, slices of turkey, chicken or lamb shaved off a huge slab of meat rotating on a big spit; or hummus, a spread made of crushed chickpeas, tehini sauce, lemon, olive oil, salt and garlic. For the connoisseurs, there's also sabich, a sandwich made of fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, salad and a mango pickle; shakshuka, a pan-fried casserole of poached eggs and spicy tomato sauce; or bourekas, pastry dough stuffed with mushrooms, mashed potato, spinach or cheese. In an age when fast food has become synonymous with junk food, Israel's street food vendors are proving that fast food doesn't have to be tasteless or unhealthy. Street Food Beijing: the Jianbing

One of my favourite street foods: a combo of plum sauce and chilli with the soft and crunchy! I was just saying to my wife that street jianbing sellers were becomming hard to find, replaced by (lesser) supermarket makers. Then I went to find my old guy to find he too had disappeared. When I found this Shandong lady I made sure I got a film of this delightful snack

It was a cold, but epic night of eating on the streets in Japan. ----------------------------------------- Total Lunar Eclipse, December 10, 2011: Unfortunately, I didn't get any interesting video, but what I saw was amazing. I watched the moon completely disappear. Poof! ..Just like magic. A lunar eclipse is when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks the Sun's rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Korean Street Food

My honor students have always liked my news reports on Korea, so they asked to be in one... so I thought I'd have them help me out this one time. Because we did this as a school project, I had a number of students want to help. As such, the camera work is a little off, but it was a grand experiment. The students also spoke a little softly, and while I tried to boost the audio, you may not be able to hear what is being said. Food #1 - "Tteokbokki" - this is a spiced-up rice cake in a red sauce. It's great. It dates back to the Korean Royal Court Cuisine times and underwent a change during the Korean war to make it into the spicy dish we have today. Food #2 - "Sundae" - a blood sausage indicative of Korea. It's made with meat and other stocks, such as rice, and placed in a pig's intestine. The original recipe dates back to the Josen Dynasty with instructions being printed in the 19th Century. Foods #3 and #4 - "ColPop" and "Tornado Potato"- A ColPop is an on-the-go snack that combines a soda (bottom) and a treat (on top). It allows the consumer to eat and drink in a hands-free way... perfect for traveling. A Tornado Potato is a sliced and fried spindle of potato on a skewer. Musical intro: Apple, used with permission.

Another serving of Thai Street Food. This time we're at the Chiang Mai Sunday night market. It is a must-attend event in a must-see city. The opening and closing shots are of the Chiang Mai classic, Sai Krok - a sausage combining pork and ALL of the "special" Thai cooking ingredients - fish sauce, lemon grass, cilantro, coriander seed, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, thai chilis, etc. The same flavor ingredients that create Tom Yum stock - but in a grilled porky sausage form. Malaysian Street Food Tour in Kuala Lumpur

Join me on Facebook: www.facebook.com (CLICK HERE)!!! Malaysian street food is amazingly delicious and Kuala Lumpur is full of food everywhere you look! The first dish in the video is known as Nasi Campur, a truly delightful Malaysian street food that consists of a giant plate of rice accompanied by an assortment of various side dishes. I chose fish curry, chili tofu and a bunch of other delicious vegetables and garnished. Next I stopped at a famous place near Little India in Kuala Lumpur to eat an Ikan Bakar grilled fish. It was grilled in some kind of chili sauce and served with a limey chili sauce that was absolutely spectacular. When it began to rain, I decided to drink a cup of milk tea teh tarik, one of the most famous beverages in Malaysia. The next meal was at Hameed's a restaurant specializing in Indian style Malaysian street food known as Nasi Kandar. Along with a plate of rice covered in curries, I aslo ordered a plate of biryani, and a side of tandoori chicken and plan naan. I couldn't leave Kuala Lumpur without eating the absolute mos comforting Malaysian street food: Nasi Lemak. After searching around, I finally found it at an outdoors restaurant. It wasn't the best nasi lemak I've ever had, but it sure wasn't bad! Hope you enjoyed this Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur! Walk through Chinatown Street Food Market Bangkok Thailand - "Phil in Bangkok"

www.IMInfoBlog.com http www.PhilinBangkok.com http Please Click the "Thumbs Up" and Subscribe to my Channel, Thanks! Chinatown started when King Rama I decided in 1782 to establish the capital on the eastern bank of the Chao Phrya River. The Chinese immigrants who were originally settled in what is now the Grand Palace had to move out to a strip of land two km down the river. Over the years the settlement grew. Today Chinatown Bangkok or Yaowarat covers a square bounded by Phadung Krung Kasem Canal to the east, the Ong Ang Canal to the west, Luang Road to the north and the Chao Phraya River to the south, an area of about 2 sq km. The casual visitor to Chinatown would probably only have the time and energy to cover the main street Yaowarat Road where most of the activities are concentrated. The other road of interest is Rachawong Road which is off Yaowarat Road. If you are coming to Chinatown by road the most convenient way to start your tour of this Bangkok legacy is to take the underground to the Hua Lam Phong underground station located on the eastern bank of the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal. Nearby is the Hua Lam Phong railway station from which trains travel to every part of Thailand. Across the road from the train station is Traimit Road where the famous Wat Traimit or Temple of the Golden Buddha stands. This wat houses a 3 m high Buddha made of more than 5 tonnes of gold! The Golden Buddha is now in a new building with the Golden Buddha Museum on the second level and ...
