1999 Royal Rumble--Vincent K. McMahon! The owner had a lot on his mind one day after his big win at the Rumble. First he said that he was so appreciative that The Rock came down and watched as he "single handedly" threw Stone Cold out that he was going to give the new champion the $100000 bounty that was reserved for the superstar that eliminated Austin. Secondly, he said that since he didn't want The Rock "to be intimidated" about the prospect of facing him at WrestleMania, he had filed papers that official withdrew him from his spot as number one contender. He said he, and only he, would name the new number one contender who would face The Rock at WrestleMania. Suddenly, Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared on the Titan Tron via satellite from San Antonio, Texas. The Rattlesnake told Mr. McMahon, "I'm going to WrestleMania to face the champion". How did he know? The Commissioner himself said so! It turned out the Rattlesnake was at the home of Shawn Michaels, who was healing up from back surgery a few weeks ago. Michaels explained that him and Austin had been going through the rule book and discovered that if the winner of the Royal Rumble was unable or unwilling to go to WrestleMania, the runner up would go instead. When Mr. McMahon officially signed away his rights as number one contender, he unknowingly allowed Austin to go in his place! Upon hearing the news the owner was irate. That prompted the Hardyz, the APA and Jericho to even the odds for Team WWF. The ring continued to fill up with members of both sides, and members of the companies were even battling in the backstage area and the parking lot! Suddenly, shockingly, and much to the delight of the sold-out crowd in Providence, Stone Cold pulled up to the parking area in his Austin 3:16 truck and started whipping some WECW ass! The Rattlesnake made his way to the backstage area, beating on every WECW member in sight with a broken pool cue. As the fight continued in the ring, the familiar sound of broken glass filled the arena, and as every fan rose to their feet, out came Austin! The Stone Cold of old began dishing out ass kickings to every WECW star in sight, stunning the hell out of everyone! Team WWF continued to hand out punishment until all five members of Team WWF had cleared out the ring. With the WECW stars licking their wounds at ringside, Stone Cold stood aside his Federation Superstars in a show of unity. Stone Cold Steve Austin was shown waiting in the parking area. Backstage, a limo pulled into the parking lot. Out of the limo walked William Regal, who looked around for a moment, and then told Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley (who he was talking to on a cell phone) that Stone Cold was nowhere to be found. But as soon as he hung up the phone, the Rattlesnake attacked Regal, knocking him onto the hood of the limo! Austin then got into the driver's seat, and -- with Regal still on the hood -- rammed the car into a storage area, sending the European Champion flying! Stone Cold then drilled the car into the heap again, before getting out of the car and attacking the goodwill ambassador with a pipe! Federation officials finally pulled the Rattlesnake off Regal, as the European Champion lay on the ground a bloody mess! Regal had to be stretchered out of the arena. Stephanie got out of the other side of the car and -- as the Rattlesnake stalked her -- she ran frantically into the building! With a look of terror on her face, Stephanie ran from Austin, eventually winding up on the entranceway! As she fearfully ran to ringside, the sound of broken glass filled the arena, and Stone Cold walked to ringside to confront her face to face. The Rattlesnake then threw a petrified Stephanie into the ring. He said he had warned her Monday night that he wouldn't play her games. He promised that she would learn to listen to Stone Cold.
