Derby 0-2 Stoke - Official Highlights and Goals | FA Cup 4th Round Proper 28-01-12

Goals from Cameron Jerome and Robert Huth ensured last season's FA Cup finalists Stoke City safely negotiated their way into the fifth round. Striker Jerome's close-range effort in the fifth minute gave the visitors the lead after a nervy start from Derby. The Championship side did enjoy periods of possession but struggled to test Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. And in the 81st minute, Huth volley through a posse of players to deceive Begovic's counterpart Frank Fielding. Derby had won their previous five home league and cup matches, but that form deserted them against a side eighth in the top-flight and preparing to play Valencia next month in the Europa League. Nigel Clough's side went behind when they were undone by a short corner involving Matthew Etherington and Glenn Whelan. Whelan delivered a low ball into the heart of the area, which was touched on by Marc Wilson before hitting Huth. The German defender appeared poised to smash the ball into the net, but instead it was Jerome who prodded home for his third goal in as many appearances, and his fourth in the last five. Derby managed to create just one chance in the first half when a Dean Whitehead header fell into the path of Jeff Hendrick, who cracked an 18-yard half-volley narrowly wide. The introduction of substitutes Jermaine Pennant and Kenwyne Jones midway through the second half provided Stoke with greater impetus. thefa.com The FA Cup on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com tags Bolton ...

Stoke City 5-0 Bolton Wanderers Official Tunnelcam | The FA Cup semi final 17/04/11

FATV again bring your our popular and exclusive tunnel cam footage from the weekend's second FA Cup semi final in which Stoke City thrashed Bolton Wanderers by 5 goals to 0.

Stoke City 5-0 Bolton Wanderers Official Highlights | The FA Cup semi final 17/04/11

Three first-half goals helped Stoke City demolish Bolton Wanderers and reach the FA Cup final for the first time in their history. Aided by some woeful Bolton defending, Matthew Etherington, Robert Huth and Kenwyne Jones scored in the first half-hour and two goals by Jon Walters after the break completed the victory. Stoke, roared on by their vociferous fans, can look forward to returning to Wembley to face Manchester City in the final on 14 May. Their other reward is a possible place in the Europa League, either through winning the FA Cup or if City secure fourth place in the league and enter the Champions League - which will mean the Cup runners-up gain the European spot. For Wanderers, however, the occasion was a massive anti-climax as their hopes of reaching a first final since 1958 in tribute to the late Nat Lofthouse were quickly left in ruins. Bolton were given an ominous warning in the opening minutes when they were caught napping by a quickly taken Stoke free-kick that enabled Walters to escape down the left before being denied by Jussi Jaaskelainen. Bolton did manage a couple of efforts at the other end, with Gary Cahill blasting over from a corner and Johan Elmander failing to test Thomas Sorensen with a low shot from distance. But their big day began to disintegrate from the moment a misplaced pass by Paul Robinson found Etherington on the edge of the area and the winger composed himself before lashing a fierce shot into the corner of the net. Things quickly ...

Stoke 2-1 West Ham United | The FA Cup 6th Round

Stoke vs West Ham United, R6, The FA Cup 6th Round - 13/03/11 Danny Higginbotham's fierce free-kick sank West Ham and sent Stoke into their first FA Cup semi-final for 39 years as they edged a fast and furious game that was full of controversy. After Robert Huth headed the Potters in front, referee Mike Jones angered both sides with his decisions, first allowing Frederic Piquionne's equaliser to stand despite an apparent handball and then awarding Stoke a cheap penalty which Robert Green saved brilliantly. Jones also played a key part in Higginbotham's winner, awarding the Potters another free-kick for handball in the wall when Jermaine Pennant's initial effort was blocked. But once the dust settles, it would be a shame if the officials were to be the main post-match talking point because this was a full-blooded cup tie that saw plenty of endeavour by both teams. Roared on by the home fans, Stoke made a breathless start and Pennant sent over two dangerous crosses from the right in the first two minutes, with Matthew Etherington getting on the end of one of them to force a fine save from Green. The visitors were given notice of what was to come when Huth headed wide from a Rory Delap long throw but failed to heed the warning, allowing the German defender to rise unmarked to meet another Delap catapult and plant his header into the net after 12 minutes. Stoke deserved their advantage and they looked to build on their lead with Etherington continuing his busy wing-play down ...

Crawley 0-2 Stoke - Official Highlights and Goals | FA Cup 5th Round 19-02-12

Crawley Town's FA Cup run came to an end against top-flight opposition for the second year running as 10-man Stoke advanced to the last eight. Last year's finalists overcame Rory Delap's controversial sending-off to go ahead through Jon Walters's confident penalty for a foul on Ryan Shawcross. A Peter Crouch header shortly after half-time sealed the result. Stoke's Danny Collins handballed Tyrone Barnett's shot on the line in injury time but no penalty was given. Crawley went out of the competition to Manchester United last season at the fifth round stage. And they attempted to give Stoke a taste of their own set-piece medicine throughout the tie but the top-flight side's extra quality in that department - both in defence and attack - proved critical. Despite losing Delap, the visitors displayed professionalism and efficiency to see off a side that were a genuine threat to their progress, having already beaten Championship sides Hull and Bristol City on their route to the fifth round. Tony Pulis was furious at the decision to dismiss Delap for a tackle on David Hunt, which his opposite number Steve Evans had ventured onto the pitch to protest against, although his team were in no way affected by the setback. Pulis had taken no chances with his team selection, fielding a powerful line-up that included England international Crouch in attack but it was Crawley who enjoyed the better of the early exchanges. Crouch almost gave the League Two underdogs the lead when Asmir ...

Stoke v Liverpool - Dalglish on Bellamy and Andy Carroll fitness | English Premier League 2011

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has defended Andy Carroll following recent criticism of the striker's lifestyle from England coach Fabio Capello. Carroll was a subtitute in England's win against Wales after Capello said: "If he wants to be a good player he needs to drink less than the others." But Dalglish insisted: "His fitness would stand up against anybody's. "I don't think his lifestyle is anything like you want it to be to write a story." Continue reading the main story [Andy] has great respect for Fabio Capello and I think Fabio Capello has great respect for Andy Carroll Kenny Dalglish The Liverpool boss added: "Andy was not properly fit last season because of a knee injury. "We are pleased with his fitness this season because he's lost that injury." Carroll, 22, has started two of Liverpool's first four games in his first full season at Anfield following his move from Newcastle in January. The forward has scored once, in a substitute appearance in the Carling Cup victory at Exeter. - but netted twice against Manchester City last season in a 3-0 win. Dalglish added: "I think Andy is very appreciative of advice from anyone who has a good standing in football. "I think he appreciates Fabio Capello's advice because he has great respect for Fabio Capello and I think Fabio Capello has great respect for Andy Carroll."

The Spurs striker replied to Matthew Etherington's first-half double with a penalty at the Britannia Stadium but had a second goal contentiously ruled out by an offside flag.

Peter Crouch and Stoke City on Hell's Kitchen with Marco Pierre White - Behind the scenes

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has said that he "does not carry much hope" of playing for England again. Crouch has not featured for his country since November 2010 and was not in the squad that travelled to Montenegro. When asked if Wayne Rooney's ban would increase his chances of selection, he told BBC Radio Stoke: "I wouldn't say so, I don't carry much hope. "I go into each game with Stoke to play as well as I can and if the England call comes, that would be fantastic." The 30-year-old continued: "I've felt like I've always done well for England and I feel like I've been doing well for Stoke, so of course it's disappointing [not to be selected in the England squad]. "I'll get on with playing for Stoke because I'm really enjoying it. If the call comes then great, but if not, I'm happy where I am." Crouch has scored twice in six appearances for the Potters since his record £10m move from Tottenham on transfer deadline day. The last of his 22 international goals and 42 appearances for the national team came as a substitute in a 2-1 friendly defeat by France at Wembley in November 2010. Since then, he has been selected in several squads by England coach Fabio Capello, but has not been called upon to play. Rooney, who was sent off for kicking Miodrag Dzudovic in the 2-2 draw in Montenegro, will find out the extent of his suspension on Thursday. He is definitely banned for the first match of Euro 2012 and could see his ban extended by Uefa. /football on Youtube brings you ...

Man City vs Stoke Tunnel Cam | FA Cup Final 2011 14/05/11

FATV exclusive tunnel cam footage of the 2011 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Yaya Toure was the hero for Manchester City as his second-half pile-driver won The FA Cup for the club for the first time since 1969, and their first piece of silverware in 35 years. It came on a day of celebration for the City of Manchester, but this victory will mean so much to the blue half who have been taunted annually by their neighbours in red. Stoke's consolation is a place in next season's Europa League but boss Tony Pulis will be disappointed that his side, so dangerous and effective in recent weeks, failed to get to grips with the Wembley occasion and rarely threatened. Paddy should have waited, his power's overarted Payin' out money on Stoke bein' relegated, What a joke, what a daft bloke, Cos who was the first team to come down Stoke? Aston Villa, a five goal thriller, Delap with a throw and Sidibe with the killer. Wam Bamma, thank you Mamma Martin O'Niell wasn't overly enamoured. Oh that's it, the power of the Brit Howling and growling in the bear pit. Oh can ya? Oh can ya? Hear yourself think in the Britannia? What a crowd, what a sound, It's officially the loudest ground. Take eeet, The noise at the Brit will make your ears bleed. On a windy day, Spurs blew away. Sunderland got nothing when they came to play. Then Arsene, said it was obscene, He bleated 'cos Stoke defeated his team, Whatever he said, it was them that saw red, As the mighty Potters put Arsenal to bed. We are the Potters, the rip roaring Potters, Back in the Prem where Pulis got us, So come on everybody, Let's keep Stoke up, keep Stoke up, keep Stoke up. Yes, we are the Potters, the rip roaring Potters, Back in the Prem where Pulis got us, So come on everybody, Let's keep Stoke up, keep Stoke up, keep Stoke up. Liverpool 2-1 Stoke - Official goals and highlights | FA Cup Sixth Round 18/03/12

To find out more about the The FA Cup visit: thefa.com The FA Cup on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Stewart Downing produced the most telling contribution of his Liverpool career to fire the Anfield club past Stoke and into the FA Cup semi-finals. Luis Suarez gave the hosts the lead with a curling 20-yard strike after a one-two with Maxi Rodriguez. But Peter Crouch's header from a corner earned Stoke a deserved equaliser. The Reds picked up the pace and were rewarded when Downing drilled a shot past Thomas Sorensen to book a Wembley date with either Everton or Sunderland. Liverpool's victory fully justified Kenny Dalglish's pre-match assertion that the club are making progress under his stewardship despite an inconsistent Premier League campaign. And the Reds are now two Wembley wins away from a cup double in the Scot's first full season since returning to the club where he enjoyed success after success as a player and manager between 1977 and 1991. Stoke, runners-up last season, fully deserved to be level at half-time after a combative display full of energy and purpose, but after Downing's intervention they never really looked likely to fashion an equaliser. Liverpool's early attacks lacked finesse, with several final balls going astray until Suarez decided to take matters into his own hands. Running with the ball towards the heart of the Stoke defence, he exchanged passes with Maxi and curled a delightful shot into the bottom corner. Stoke ...

Redknapp rages at referee after Stoke loss

Tottenham's 11-match unbeaten league run ended as Matthew Etherington scored twice against his old club to hand Stoke a third straight league win. One of four former Spurs players to feature for the hosts, Etherington tapped in to open the scoring. He doubled the lead with a scuffed strike from Ryan Shotton's long throw before Emmanuel Adebayor converted a penalty after a foul on Luka Modric. Tottenham pushed for an equaliser but faded once Younes Kaboul was sent off. It was a harsh dismissal for a second yellow card and Spurs were also aggrieved with several other decisions by referee Chris Foy. Peter Crouch appeared to handle in the build-up to Etherington's opener, Ryan Shawcross cleared a Kaboul shot off the line at 2-1 and, in the scramble that followed, Adebayor saw a strike incorrectly ruled out for offside. Jermain Defoe also felt one of his shots was blocked by a hand. The defeat stops Tottenham's winning streak in the league at six games and leaves them five points behind second-placed Manchester United with a game in hand. Stoke have been in impressive form in recent weeks and are now up to eighth in the table. Their previous two league meetings with Spurs at the Britannia ended in defeat but they made the more purposeful start on this occasion - with Crouch, Etherington, Jonathan Woodgate and eventual substitute Wilson Palacios up against their old team. There was no place in the side for Rory Delap but long-throw duties fell to Shotton and he proved a highly ...

Thomas Sorenson on the FA Cup - Stoke City v Derby County

Graham Dorrans's late free-kick earned West Brom their first league win of 2012 as they edged past Stoke City. James Morrison gave Albion the lead when his swerving effort from the edge of the area caught out Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen. Ben Foster saved a second-half penalty from Jonathan Walters before substitute Cameron Jerome headed an equaliser. Just as Stoke looked to have earned a point, Dorrans hit a free-kick through a crowd of players into the net. Stoke came into the game with just one win in five league outings, but only a solitary defeat in nine. That ensured they were clear favourites against a West Brom side who had not beaten them in 10 games. The Baggies' form coming into the game was hardly inspiring either, with three league defeats on the trot instigating a slide down the table from their comfortable mid-table position at Christmas. Roy Hodgson's side got off to a bright start. Morrison's long ball forward got caught up in the wind at a blustery Britannia Stadium to allow Jerome Thomas to get in behind the Stoke defence, but his shot was saved by Sorensen. The Dane then pulled off a sensational save after Morrison hit a rasping strike that the keeper managed to tip on to the underside of the bar. /football on Youtube brings you the latest football news, transfer rumours and footballing gossip from the English Premier League and European Champions League.
