Although in the early 1980s some workers accepted reductions in wages and benefits in the hope of protecting jobs, this adjustment is uncommon. There are several reasons why it is more common to sacrifice workers and protect wages. In this episode of Educate America Now, we talk about this issue. Quantitative Easing and Unemployment
The Free Enterprise Cartoon Bears discuss quantitative easing and unemployment. The Maynard Keynes and the Ben Bernanke, take some heat. Bernanke said unemployment was one of his reasons to use quantitative easing (inflation). He has not explained how or why it should work now, when it didn't work in the 1970's, when both inflation and unemployment went up. The "sticky wages" of the Maynard Keynes do not address the real problem, which is decreased purchasing power, caused by the huge household debt of about $14 Trillion' plus the huge national debt of about $14 Trillion. Subscribe to our newsletter at www.goldmoney.com Thomas Rustici, Professor at George Mason University, and Alasdair Macleod, of the GoldMoney Foundation, talk about the European sovereign debt crisis and how it foreshadows similar problems in the USA. A central bank is a monopolistic, central planning agency, with all the implications that this has for the quality of its product. They talk about monetary policy and its flaws. They talk about labour market rigidity and "sticky wages" as deliberate policy. They talk about the European Union and how it has fallen prey to regulatory capture and has morphed from a free market into a mercantilist structure controlled by special interests. They talk about the cost of regulation and how the cost is borne by employees and consumers, not companies, which merely collect. This interview was recorded on October 20th 2011.
Does Keynesian economics commit the "Broken window" fallacy?
Long story short, no, at least most of the time it doesn't. Keynesian economics only prescribes large amounts of fiscal and monetary stimulus when the economy suffers from unemployment due to a deflationary recession. Some people, let's call them "pseudo-keynesians" will abuse keynesian economics to argue for perpetual government spending or artificially high wages for unionized labor at all times. These people are wrong, from the standpoint of the economy as a whole, for their prescriptions really do commit the broken-window fallacy because money spent on government functions, or artificially high wages, could have been used for other enterprises. In the village of Bastiat's thought experiment, if the village is suffering from a deflationary recession, the hooligan who broke the window really should be praised, for he really did stimulate the economy

10 Tips - How To Find a Job by Sexy Chick
www.amazon.com Unemployment occurs when a person is available and willing to work but currently without work. The prevalence of unemployment is usually measured using the unemployment rate, which is defined as the percentage of those in the labor force who are unemployed. The unemployment rate is also used in economic studies and economic indices such as the United States' Conference Board's Index of Leading Indicators as a measure of the state of macroeconomics. Mainstream economics believes in the main that unemployment is inevitable, and a necessary evil to prevent inflation; this is disputed by some schools of heterodox economics. The causes of unemployment are disputed. Keynesian economics emphasizes unemployment resulting from insufficient effective demand for goods and services in the economy (cyclical unemployment). Others point to structural problems and inefficiencies inherent in labour markets; structural unemployment involves mismatches between demand and supply of laborers with the necessary skillset, sometimes induced by disruptive technologies or globalisation. Classical or neoclassical economics tends to reject these explanations, and focuses more on rigidities imposed on the labor market from the outside, such as unionization, minimum wage laws, taxes, and other regulations that may discourage the hiring of workers (classical unemployment). Yet others see unemployment as largely due to voluntary choices by the unemployed and the time it takes to find a ...

The Real Reason Subprime Triggered a Recession(As opposed to Peter Schiff's idiocy)
Scott Sumner lays out a compelling case for a quasi-monetarist notion that money was much too tight in the 4th quarter of '08, turning what would have been a manageable drop in RGDP growth into a financial crisis and deep recession. It was the nominal shock that did most of the damage, meaning that even some solid loans were expected to be riskier as aggregate demand was collapsing during the financial crisis, all of which was avoidable. This is in sharp contrast to Schiff's dumbass Austrian fable about high inflation via low interest rates causing the build up of a credit bubble and then a "healthy" self-correction that would heal all if the government would just get out of the way. Of course, Schiff offers no evidence for his version of events. Sorry Peter, but because wages and prices are sticky, Say's Law doesn't apply to monetary economies and so your dumbass liquidationist notions are without support. If Say's Law did hold, inflation would never have real effects, no matter how much monetary expansion occurred. Had you actually known anything about economics, you wouldn't have taken a spanking in '08 that vastly exceeded that of even straight index investors. You were far worse than useless, just as now.
The Sound of Economics
1. Factors of Production - refer to the materials that are used to create finished goods. 2. Land - is defined as the natural resources that are available from nature. A music book owner decides what to do with it just as a land owner decides where to buy land and what to build or plant. 3. Phillips Curve - shows that in the short run, as inflation goes up, unemployment goes down. 4. Seasonal Unemployment - usually results from seasonal changes that affect demand or changing weather that makes certain types of work difficult. 5. Minimum Wage - the minimum amount a person gets when they have a job. I chose Twinkle Twinkle Little Star since it's a beginning piece. I used 3 instruments to represent that everyone gets at least minimum wage 6. Human Capital - resource that includes the accumulated training and education of workers. 7. Reserve Requirement - is an amount of money banks are expected to keep in their vaults. Mozart's Alla Turca is a piece I have known for a long time and can always play, even if I haven't practiced it in a long time. 8. Bimetallism - is a monetary standard in which both gold and silver are used, and there is a certain amount of silver that is considered equivalent to a certain amount of gold. This variation of "Rain," (from the movie Secret) is a duet. 9. Foreign Exchange Rate -- In converting one currency to another, one unit of a currency is exchanged for a different number of units of a second. Guitar notes are "exchanged" for piano notes. 10 ...

How to Clean Refrigerators
•Remove all decorations on door before you start cleaning •Apply Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner to microfiber and clean outside of fridge, top to bottom •The handle will be the most dirty, start from bottom of handle and use towel to go side-to-side like shoe shining •If fridge is stainless steel, than towel doesn't need to be very wet •Check exterior for spots or stickiness, before moving to inside •If there is a sticky spot, remove them with a wet sponge and metal spatula (using a top to bottom motion) •Don't forget to clean the exterior borders of the fridge •Open the fridge, the dirtiest place will be the plastic seal at the top of the door. Use a spatula covered with wet microfiber with Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner to clean the lines of the seal. •Inside, clean the shelves from top to bottom and back to front. Clean them with microfiber with Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner. •Last area to clean is shelves on door (condiment shelves) •To keep the fridge smelling fresh, be sure to remove spoiled food
RL Burnside - Nine Days in Jail.wmv
BIOGRAPHY WRITTEN BY ME: sammynyman.blogspot.com An era in American music ended when legendary blues guitarist RL Burnside passed away in 2005. A fixture on the Mississippi Delta blues scene for decades, Burnside and his gritty, growling musical style was a living link to the black musicians who originated the Delta blues back in the 1920s and from whom he first learned how to play. In the early 1990s Burnside gained fame when he was "discovered" by new generation of blues aficionados and rock and rollers. One of them, Judah Bauer of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, told Guitar Player's Jas Obrecht that Burnside was "devoted to the blues.... Hanging out with him, you really feel he's from another time and place. The past in him is big—he's a direct connection to it—and you hear it in his storytelling and phrases." Born Robert Lee Burnside in 1926 in Lafayette County, Mississippi, Burnside spent much of his life in the northern section of the state, just outside of the unofficial borders of the region known as the Delta. A triangular basin between the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers, the Delta was long an impoverished, rural place, with an economy dominated by an unfair system in which whites owned the land and black sharecroppers worked it for meager wages. The blues was a musical style that emerged as a key element of African-American culture in the twentieth century, and was born in the 1920s out of the Delta's pervasive injustice and racism. An era in American music ended when legendary blues guitarist RL Burnside passed away in 2005. Global economy and financial system at most fragile state: MAS
By Ryan Huang | Posted: 18 November 2011 SINGAPORE : The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has warned that the global economy is at its most fragile state since the last financial crisis. In its annual Financial Stability Review on Friday, the central bank said economic risks increased significantly in the second half of the year. The MAS highlighted that key risks facing Singapore included a protracted global economic slowdown, financial contagion and pressures in the property market. Singapore's economy and financial system have so far been resilient. But the MAS warned that if the global slowdown drags on, corporate earnings could start to drop, and that could have a negative impact on employment and wages. One of its main concerns is that this would then expose over-extended borrowers. This does not apply to just businesses, but also for individuals, who may have taken loans to buy property. The MAS said that while overall averages indicate this is not a cause for concern for now, there could be pockets of people with higher exposure than others. Vishnu Varathan, a market economist at Mizuho, said: "Things are still good, things are still pretty resilient and healthy so there is no reason for current concern. "But I think what the MAS is trying to sound out, and I think quite astutely, at this point of time is that there are risks that could be knocking on the door and they want to be very aware of these risks. "One particular risk we can think of would be the ...

9. "Commodity" and "Commonweal": Economic and Social Problems, 1520-1560
Early Modern England: Politics, Religion, and Society under the Tudors and Stuarts (HIST 251) Professor Wrightson surveys the changing economic landscape of early modern England in the early sixteenth century. He notes that, throughout the period, population levels rose and, at the same time, inflation caused a rise in prices, and real wages fell. While many landowners were able to raise rents on their lands and profit from enclosing land, and many yeoman farmers prospered, these trends also resulted in a measure of social dislocation and a growth in poverty and vagrancy. Moral outrage at these developments was voiced by the so-called Commonwealth's Men, and popular discontent resulted in large scale rebellions, such as the Pilgrimage of Grace and Kett's Rebellion. Professor Wrightson ends by discussing the economic thought of Sir Thomas Smith, which influenced government initiatives to combat these problems. 00:00 - Chapter 1.
