Click here for more ::: I asked a group of nine students what they want to say to the rest of the world about South Korea, or more generally, about Asia. They address a variety of topics, such as being good at math, being asked if they are Japanese or Chinese, and also cosmetic surgery. I've been helping these students prepare for their journey abroad to the USA this winter, and we thought making a video would be a great way to make a memory of the time that we've spent together comparing cultures, thoughts, and opinions. I'm really proud of what these students have achieved already, and I know they will all be wonderful broad-minded teachers in the future. I was inspired to make this film after watching Lena Khan's video "A Land Called Paradise". Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and leave your opinions. #87 - Top Favorited (8/25/11) - Film & Animation Just To Note (so I stop getting asked about this): This is a "MEP" - meaning it is a video that was made by more than one person. The people other than me who were in this project are listed in this description. This video was made mainly with the programs photoshop, gimp and sony vegas (pro or platinum versions depending on the editor). I honestly hate questions concerning "which program do you use" because the editor made the video and not their program. Using said programs yourself will not suddenly make you a good editor. Sorry, but it is the truth... =/ Not that people can't become good editors in time, but editing well is a skill that takes time and practice to master. I just hate that new editors tend to have this idea that they can get a good editing program and will suddenly become amazing editors themselves because it just doesn't work like that... =3 It took me 5 years of trial&error and fail to get to where I am now, so don't expect to be able to make something stupendous overnight...I'm not trying to sound like an ass or anything but when I did have commenting turned on for this video, constantly receiving and trying to answer the same questions regarding this over&over quickly became annoying and redundant...not that I'm not happy for the popularity of this video ^^ I am grateful to those that watch and love it =3 --- TY to Sam for the idea of the MEP though she had to drop out of the final project in the end ...

A Serious Matter - Part 10 - Stereotypes, Brown Paper Bags, and BGLOs
Continuing my series on AKA and the Idolatry of Sorority Membership. Stereotypes were a underlying theme that I had to talk about in this series, because the outward appearances are usually reflective of what is going on inwardly in many of these organizations. As I have pointed out before, AKAs are known through the Greek world as "Pretty Girls" and they have a popular saying "Only Pretty Girls Wear 20 Pearls." You will see women who are very confident, "pretty" playing up the stereotypes of AKAs who are known to be very attractive, feminine, conceited, saditty, socialites who have good manners, and are "cultured and worldly." The paper bag test, as well as some colorism issues are also briefly discussed. Many will point to these stereotypical manifestations from individuals and say they are only playing a part, and that the conceited stereotypes are not who they actually are... I beg to differ, and they are using their respective organizations to express themselves all the while "hiding behind the shield" to make excuses for their behaviors. I call it the "Sasha Fierce Syndrome" (Beyoncé) where people hide behind this "image" they have created for themselves, to protect themselves from scrutiny, and this happens is ALL GREEK ORGS. For Christians, the bible says that we are no longer to conform to the patterns and images of this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of our minds so we may know God's good and perfect will (Romans 12:2) Source Videos Beyond the Brown ...
