They address a variety of topics, such as being good at math, being asked if they are Japanese or Chinese, and also cosmetic surgery. I've been helping these students prepare for their journey abroad to the USA this winter, and we thought making a video would be a great way to make a memory of the time that we've spent together comparing cultures, thoughts, and opinions. I'm really proud of what these students have achieved already, and I know they will all be wonderful broad-minded teachers in the future. I was inspired to make this film after watching Lena Khan's video "A Land Called Paradise". Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and leave your opinions. Black Stereotypes (new extended version)
The producers do not tolerate or support hatred or racism in any form. This film merely illustrates how blacks have been portrayed by filmmakers in the past. Here's my latest version of "Black Stereotypes" filled with many new scenes and some old familiar ones. Every race, ethnicity, creed, gender, lifestyle, etc has it's stereotypes. Gay interior decorators, Chinese laundry, Hispanic gardeners, Irish cops, Italian gangsters, etc... These images are just a small sampling of how black people have been portrayed on a daily basis for many, many years. All of the clips used in this film were shown regularly on television up until the mid 1980's. Many episodes of the Little Rascals have been "ethnically cleansed" over the years. Some 20 minute episodes were edited down to a mere 8 after removing all racial images/slurs, while several episodes were removed completely from the series. All of the movie studios of the time, both big & small produced live-action films and cartoons portraying blacks in this manner. Theaters in the South would cut out any scene of a black performer that was not shown as a slave, servant or as comic relief. These films are a product of their times and provide visual documentation of how society, "kept the man down". Has anything really changed so many years later? Let's hear what you have to say. A Serious Matter - Part 10 - Stereotypes, Brown Paper Bags, and BGLOs
Continuing my series on AKA and the Idolatry of Sorority Membership. Stereotypes were a underlying theme that I had to talk about in this series, because the outward appearances are usually reflective of what is going on inwardly in many of these organizations. As I have pointed out before, AKAs are known through the Greek world as "Pretty Girls" and they have a popular saying "Only Pretty Girls Wear 20 Pearls." You will see women who are very confident, "pretty" playing up the stereotypes of AKAs who are known to be very attractive, feminine, conceited, saditty, socialites who have good manners, and are "cultured and worldly." The paper bag test, as well as some colorism issues are also briefly discussed. Many will point to these stereotypical manifestations from individuals and say they are only playing a part, and that the conceited stereotypes are not who they actually are... I beg to differ, and they are using their respective organizations to express themselves all the while "hiding behind the shield" to make excuses for their behaviors. I call it the "Sasha Fierce Syndrome" (Beyoncé) where people hide behind this "image" they have created for themselves, to protect themselves from scrutiny, and this happens is ALL GREEK ORGS. For Christians, the bible says that we are no longer to conform to the patterns and images of this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of our minds so we may know God's good and perfect will (Romans 12:2) Source Videos Beyond the Brown ...
