Twitter.com - Follow Us! Stephanie Meyer has yet another book to be made into a film. It's not another in the Twilight series, but we've got the info right now. Hi everyone. You've reached Clevver TV and I'm Dana Ward with the details on the new adaptation from Stephanie Meyer. It's the author's first adult novel to be made into a movie and it's called The Host. The somewhat sci-fi love drama got published in May 2008 and after many bid rejections, The Host finally found a home with 3 producers. According to reports, producers are dipping into their personal funds to acquire the rights to the book, just in time for cross-genre writer, Andrew Niccol to sign on as screenwriter and director. Apparently, that connection came shortly after Meyer named some of his projects, such as Gattaca and The Truman Show, as being some of her favorite sci-fi-related films. As far as the storyline for The Host goes, it's about a species of emotion-feeling aliens called 'souls' invades the Earth and has taken control of the minds of nearly every human there. One extraterrestrials chooses to take over a person's mind, yet the woman is able to maintain part-control and the two become a team, setting off on a journey to find the woman's love who's in hiding as one of the last humans to remain in control of his mind. Today we have brand new details on a new movie project from the writer of the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer. Fans of the author will be glad to know that the casting process for the film version of Meyer's book "The Host" is in full-force, and a highly acclaimed young actress is taking the lead. According to Deadline, Saoirse Ronan will play the dual role of Melanie and Wanderer in the movie. The movie, like the book, will follow the story of Melanie Stryder, a human character who is one of the last to avoid being taken captive by aliens called Souls. The Souls take over human bodies, erasing their personalities. Ultimately Melanie is taken over by a soul called Wanderer. Wanderer is so taken by Melanie's memories that it becomes impossible to fully invade her body. That said, Saoirse will play both characters -- Melanie and Wanderer -- as they locate a large group of humans hiding out underground from the Souls. Entertainment Weekly broke news that Max Irons will be joining Saoirse Ronan and Jake Abel in the upcoming project, in which he's set to play Jared. The highly anticipated project is expected to commence shooting in February of 2012, with a release date marked down for March of 2013. That said, casting news for this movie is likely pick up even more over the next few weeks. Jake's character Jared is in love with Melanie, the primary character in the book.
