Jim Steinman -Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through
Original 1981 version of Meat Loaf's early 90's cover version. Intended, since its creation, to be part of the "Bat Out of Hell" album follow up, Bad for Good, it was finally recorded by Steinman (all the album), tired of waiting for Loaf to recover from vocal problems. The song was entitled "SUEÑOS DE UN BAILARÍN" (Dreams of a dancer) in Costa Rica, which is a very literal reference of what we see in the video. Thanks to Nelson Hoffman and his program Hola Juventud.
"Seize The Knight" - Batman / Meat Loaf (Jim Steinman) Music Video
A little history of this song ... Back in the 90s, Jim Steinman (who wrote all the classic Meat Loaf songs from the first two Bat Out Of Hell albums) started writing songs for a planned Batman musical, which Tim Burton was attached to direct on stage. He wrote and recorded several demo songs for the musical, which for one reason or another never materialised. One of those songs was this one - 'Seize The Night'. He would later re-work it as part of his vampire musical 'Dance of the Vampire' (or 'Tanz der Vampir' in Germany where it was a much bigger success than in the US). However, when it came time to do the third Bat Out Of Hell album, Meat Loaf made the controversial decision to go ahead and make it without Jim Steinman (who, at the time, was suffering from health problems). So, rather than wait for Jim to write some new songs and finish the trilogy properly, Meat Loaf did his own versions of already-established Steinman songs - including 'Seize The Night" This is what makes Bat Out Of Hell III such an enigma - it feels like half of a masterpiece. Meat's versions of the existing Steinman songs are superb (especially, in my opinion, 'The Future Ain't What It Used To Be' and 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now'), but the rest of the songs on the albums - which Steinman did not write - are good but not great. A missed opportunity, but still a very good album. HOWEVER, Meat Loaf's version of 'Seize The Night' came out brilliantly, and even though I wouldn't trade Christopher ...
