SSC 0-200 mph (Gear Ratio Testing)

SSC continues to characterize a few last sub-assemblies from the Ultimate Aero for transfer into the final Tuatara performance package. The team is specifying new gear ratio packs for the Tuatara transmission and 0-200 MPH runs were the logical test for this critical information. TEST RESULTS: Testing showed that 2nd gear starts achieved by far the best test results as SSC averaged 6 individual 0-200 MPH test runs, each unofficially clocked under 16 seconds. SSC was surprised at how quickly the Ultimate Aero reached 200 MPH, but more importantly the team has now determined what they feel is the perfect gear ratios for the new 7-speed Tuatara transmission. A Short Video of the Thrust SSC. Thrust SSC broke the sound barrier back in October 15, 1997. It achieved a speed of 1228 km/h (763 mph) and the SSC became the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier. Story delivers a good message to youth. Gowtam (Navdeep) is youngest of three sons of Collector Shambhu Prasad. His wife is a professor, eldest son (Sizzu) is a doctor, second one (Sreenivasa Varma) is a businessman, and his daughters-in-law are also in a well-to-do status. But his last son fails to go beyond SSC. Though Mr. Prasad ignores his son's small gaffes, he doesn't spare him when he comes to know that this brat forged his signature and he throws him out of house. A tutor (Sindhu), who teaches his brother's kids, takes him to her house. There, he gets inspired by the words of Bhanu (Bhanu Priya) and plunges himself into automobile repairing. He invents a carburettor that gives a mileage of 120km per liter and makes his brother as the patentee for his apparatus. He saves his eldest brother from a conspiracy of hospital management and also fixes marriage of his sister with her lover. In spite of doing all good to his family he never lets his father to know about these things as his father always wishes to see his third son as an IAS officer. He strives for that and his love is also not informed of his efforts. Movie ends with sharing his triumph with his father..

Inspired by Jason Castriota's exterior styling, we carried some of the aerospace inspired design, as well as the car's exterior design features, into the interior of the Tuatara. The main gauge cluster area is a glass screen that is lit up by Pico projectors behind, and is similar to a HUD (Heads Up Display). On the driver's side, 2 smaller HUD displays, are located on each side of the steering column; their design inspired by the Tuatara's rear winglets. On the right, the HUD displays the current gear of the car, and is flanked by a shift indicator light tree that provides the driver with valuable shift timing information. The left HUD displays any vital information the driver chooses. These settings are available through a menu on the central command console. The Tuatara will provide a unique, yet thrilling experience to its passengers by making them feel like more of a co-pilot instead of just a tag-along. Included in front of the passenger seat are 2 small auxiliary screens that provide the co-pilot information about the vehicle and their current experience, like its current speed, RPM or BHP. The Tuatara is one of the first production vehicles in the world to give this level of attention to the driving experience of the passenger. Thrust SSC (SuperSonic Car) is a British-designed and built jet-propelled car developed by Richard Noble, Glynne Bowsher, Ron Ayers and Jeremy Bliss. ThrustSSC holds the World Land Speed Record, set on October 15, 1997, when it achieved a speed of 1228 km/h (763 mph) and became the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier, not considering the earlier, unsubstantiated claim of the Budweiser Rocket. The car was driven by Royal Air Force fighter pilot Squadron Leader Andy Green in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, United States. It was powered by two afterburning Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines, as used in British F-4 Phantom II jet fighters. It is 16.5 m (54 ft) long, 3.7 m (12 ft) wide and weighs 10.5 tons (10.7 t). The twin engines developed a thrust of 223 kN (50000 lbf) and burned around 4 Imperial gallons per second (18.2 l/s or 4.8 US gallons/s). Designers unveil a new generation of supersonic cars in UK Air Show. "Bloodhound SSC" is expected to break the 1000 mph mark. Unveiling a new generation of fast car - this will be in a league of its own. Bloodhound SSC, or supersonic car, is designed not just to break the current land speed record of 763 miles an hour (1228kph), but to smash it. Bloodhound's driver was at the wheel the last record fell, making Wing Commander Andy Green, a Royal Air Force fighter pilot, the first man to drive a car faster than the speed of sound. Now we know, because of the modeling we have done, we know this shape will go to a thousand miles an hour. Now we are actually going to get on and build it." Next Generation SSC Ultimate Aero, Details from TopGear October Magazine

This is supercar maker SSC's latest weapon in an ongoing speed war. Its aim is to reclaim the world record from the Veyron SS. It'll cost $970000 plus tax, when it goes on sale late next year. And its maker says it'll do 275mph. The ever-intensifying fastest-car-in-the-world battle is being played out before you. This 1350bhp hypercar designed by Jason Castriota is out to take back the speed record from the Veyron Supersports. The four-cam 6.8-litre twin-turbo engine will rev to 9000rpm and make 1350bhp. Even the blowers are SSC's own design. It's already doing these numbers on Shelby's dyno. Unlike the current car, which has some steel in the structure, the new one will be all-carbon except for aluminium crash rails beyond the wheels front and back. Its transmission is the same all-SSC unit that has been proved in the current car, with the same triple-disc carbon clutch, but it'll have the option of sequential paddle shifting. An Australian company called Carbon Revolution has developed for SSC the world's first one-piece carbon-fibre wheel - the 19-incher at the front weighs an almost comically light 5.8kg. The new car's entire structure will be made of F1-derived carbon. And by that, the dry weight will fall to 1200kg-odd. Putting the power-to-weight ratio, even with fluids and the quivering driver strapped aboard, north of 1000bhp per tonne.

Top Gear has let loose another batch of pics showcasing the SSC Ultimate Aero II. In addition to the tantalizing imagery, we get some facts and figures. For starters, this new Ultimate Aero is powered by a 6.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that can scream up to a 9000 rpm redline. Power? 1350 horses, every last drop of which will be needed to hit the targeted top speed of 275 mph. Obviously, this rocketship won't be available for short money; it's going to cost $970000. SSC aims to recapture the production car speed record it initially took away from Bugatti, which responded this year by building the Veryron Supersport just to get it back. Shelby Supercars believes the Ultimate Aero II will once again allow it to take back the speed crown. SSC team isn't simply relying on monster power and a slick Jason Castriota-styled exterior. In a nod to Colin Chapman, the new Aero weighs much less than a Veyron thanks to a handful of engineering feats. The wheels are the world's first one-piece carbon-fiber units and tip the scale at just under 13 pounds. In fact, there's carbon-fiber all over the Ultimate Aero II, with the exception of some aluminum bracing for added safety in the event of a crash. Overall, the car weighs about 2600 pounds, giving it a power-to-weight ratio nearly double that of the Bugatti Veyron. Those specs pretty much say that it isn't so much a question of whether the SSC Ultimate Aero II car will set a record, only when it'll finally happen.
