Garden spider vs giant wasp Part 1
If you've never seen a spider wrap it's prey then you have to see this. We had this large garden spider in a window and had these wasps flying around the yard looking for spiders to feed their young when they hatch. These wasps dig holes in the ground that they stuff with stunned spiders. These things are huge. We wanted to see how things went against these large garden spiders. Very educational.

Baby Spider Nest!
Found this little ball of baby spiders nesting above the garden in my backyard. This is the third of its kind I've seen and the first I've been fortunate enough to film! Woohoo! The footage was roughly 20 minutes in length, but I sped it up because the spiders seem to take their sweet time getting back into cozy ball form. Also, the first time I saw one of these, I thought it was a bunch of plant seeds stuck in a web. I sure was wrong! Wolf spiders are very good mothers; they carry around their white egg sac in their jaws or spinnerets until the babies hatch, and then the little spiderlings get a free spider-back ride from mom for a week or so, until they disperse to live on their own. Bites from wolf spiders are quite rare - I have never had one offer to bite when gently handled and not restrained. A large wolf spider has large enough jaws that a bite would be painful, but the venom is not generally considered dangerous to humans, although the occasional individual may have a more severe reaction.

The spider that invented the wheel
The Golden Wheel Spider (Carparachne aureoflava) is truly a unique and amazing creature of the beautiful Namib Desert. It builds burrows that extend 40-50cm deep into the sand dunes. The burrow generally gives it sufficient shelter from its predators and especially its archenemy: Pompilid wasps. However, sometimes their burrow collapses and they have to build a new one, which can take a few days. The new burrows are initially not very deep and this is the time for the wasp to attack. They go into the burrow to inspect the size of the spider. The spider can fight them off in the burrow but then the wasp begins to dig a hole towards the end of the burrow. The wasp is able to shift 10 litres of sand or up to 80000 times its own body weight during this process. The spider, now exposed to the wasp, has two alternatives. If it is on a steep sand dune, it makes itself into a ball and rolls down the slope with a speed of 1 m/s and about 20 rotations per second. The wasp is unable to follow the spider and the spider survives. The other option is running. However, the wasp can fly after the spider, sting it, paralyze it and then plants an egg inside the spider. The wasp then proceeds to carry the spider into a hole, which it seals off. Now the newly hatched wasp has a lot of food when it wakes up. The wheel spider is the only known animal to use a wheeling motion to move and can be found exclusively in the Namib Desert.
